Chapter 11: Excursion.

[Ozpin] "Come in."

I walked into Ozpin's office where he, miss Goodwitch and James Ironwood were arguing about something, though Ozpin welcomed me in with a calm smile.

[Ruby] "Sorry it took so long. Someone accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator on the way up here.... it wasn't me."

It was me.

[Ozpin] "thank you for coming, Ruby, how are you feeling?"
[Ruby] "Okay, I guess. I'd feel better if my bad-guy-catching record wasn't O-for-three"

Everyone stared at me silently, making me feel even more nervous than I already was.

[Ruby] "okay, so that's the tone we're going for, got it."
[Ironwood] "Ruby, I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you did last night is exactly what being a Huntress is all about. You recognized a threat. You took action. And you did the very best you could."
[Ruby] "thank you sir, but I think some of the credit goes to Ryu as well."
[Ironwood] "yes, well.. moving on."
[Ozpin] "Now, the general here has already informed us of the events that... transpired last night, but now that you've rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add."
[Glynda] "Was anyone else with her? Did she look familiar at all?"
[Ruby] "I... I don't know. She was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to me. But I know she fought with glass and fire. I don't think that was her Semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked."
[Glynda] "save for the glass, that sounds like the woman I fought the night we met Ruby and Ryu."
[Ironwood] "Embedding Dust into clothing is an age-old technique. It could have been anyone."
[Ruby] "wait. you think this girl is connected to torchwick and the white fang?"
[Ozpin] "it's possible. But we still lack the required evidence to link the two together."
[Ruby] "Actually, I... I think I remember her saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside the Kingdom."
[Ozpin] "interesting"
[Glynda] "I thought you said the intruder never-"
[Ozpin] "Thank you for your cooperation, Ruby. Why don't you go and spend some time with your team? You have a big day ahead of you."
[Ruby] "anytime."
[Ozpin] "and miss rose, please try to be... discreet about this matter."
[Ruby] "yes sir."

As I was leaving the room I managed to overhear a little more of the conversation.

[Ironwood] "before we continue this conversation, have you come to a decision about that boy, Ryu? I still stand by my opinion that locking him up would be for the best."

What?

[Ironwood] "either that or send him to the front lines in place of our own people."
[Ruby] "you-"
[Ozpin & Glynda] "James!"
[Ozpin] "as much as you may not like him, that boy is one of my students which means I will protect him. Even from you, if need be."

I could feel a large grin form as I went down the elevator. Ryu, more people care about you than you know.

- Ryu's pov

As I arrived back at my room, I could here a loud ruckus through the door. Louder than usual and even Blake seemed to be participating. I opened the door slowly to make sure nothing ended up hitting me in the face.

[Ruby] "Ryu!"
[Dog] "Woof!"

Ruby ran up and dive tackled me into a hug on the floor just outside our room while the black and white corgi excitedly runs over to see what was so interesting.

[Ryu] "h-hey Ruby. Uh, where'd the dog come from?"
[Ruby] "hey!.... oh! That's Zwei. My dad sent him here while he's away."
[Ryu] "oh, alright then. But I'm not picking up anything he leaves behind."
[Ruby] "noooo worries! Zwei's a good boy."
[Zwei] "Woof! Woof!"
[Ryu] "nice to meet you too Zwei. Now, Ruby..."
[Ruby] "yes?"
[Ryu] "as nice as it is having you on top of me, I'd like to at least get into the room."
[Ruby] "eh?"
