Chapter 6

Jerome's POV:

I wake up with a jolt.

"Pshhhhh!!!!!" I manage to get through gritted teeth.

I rub my head where I hit it.

I hear shuffling and I quickly pretend to be asleep.

"Jerome I know your awake, I heard you hit your head."

Mitch,"Hey, ya it kinda hurt."

He laughs and sits on the floor, "Jerome I'm worried."

"About what?" I ask.

"Nic, she seems.... troubled." I grab my stomach.

Boy that was a good blow.

"You okay?" He asks.

"Ya, just a little self gut punch." I manage a smile.

"Oh, alright..." He sighs.

I rub his back, "Mitch she'll be ok. I promise."

After I said that I regretted it.

When you make a promise you should always keep it.

But this promise may not be able to be kept.

He sighs and stands up, "Thanks buddy."

"No problem." I smile.

With that I'm alone, with no one but my thoughts.

Mitch's POV:

I flop onto my bed and groan.

"Mitch what's up?" Nic asks.

"Nothing just tired." I lie.

"Mitch don't lie."

"Fine I'm flustered." I groan.

"How come?" She asks.

"Don't worry about it." I roll over to face the wall.

A book lands next to me.

"Here, take it." Nic grins.

I turn over and look at the leather book.

It's titled, My Time Captured.

"Is this yours?" I ask her.

"No, I have my own. I found the books when I was wondering the hallways for a minute. So I grabbed them and wrote a title on them." She replies.

"Oh, well thanks." I smile.

"Yup, no problem." She jumps off her bed.

I look at her and realize now how skinny she's gotten.

I shrug it off and decide to get writing.
