The best way to describe the next day of school is that it sucked. But earlier that morning I decided that I wasn't going to let it show. I was going to be the perfect little rich girl that everyone expected me to be. So, instead of going to school in a hoodie like I wanted to, I was wearing a cute spring floral dress, sandals, and my white canvas backpack. Ever since the realization the day before, I had felt sad and just plain 'off'. I wasn't happy, it was just a fact. I probably hadn't been happy for a while. But I'm still fine. I'm not depressed or ill. Just unhappy. And I'm not quite sure how to fix it.
Even the sight of my best friend flirting it up with the quarter back couldn't change the small fake smile that I had had politely situated on my face ever since I walked into the building. Once she spotted me through the crowd she sent one last flirty wink at John and then waltzed her way over to me.
"Status?" She asked.
"No hello?"I smirked, which caused her to give me a playful glare,"Fine. He watched your ass the whole walk over here and he even keeps glancing our way ever few seconds."
She squealed and looked at me excitedly,"He's so cute and built!"
I raised my eyebrows,"Moving on already? People are going to start getting the wrong idea."
She snorted,"What? That I'm a slut? Well, they're partially correct and they already think it anyway."
I started to tell her to stop being so silly, but she gave me that look that told me we should just change the topic and drop it. So I did.
"So I heard a few people out front talking about a new guy. I bet he's dreamy. We really need some new good looking guys to waste away our days staring at,"she grinned, giving me a look.
"Soph, don't you dare try to hook me up with him. We both know that it never works out. Plus, I bet that he has serious acne, braces, and probably spends his afternoons playing chess with his cat," I snorted, picturing the scene in my head.
"Maybe,"she smirked,"But then again, maybe not."
Before I could respond, I noticed that the hall seemed to have fallen silent and everyone's eyes were cast towards something behind me. I slowly turned and caught my breath when I saw what everyone seemed so fascinated by. The new guy.
He had honey blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. He had a nice soft tan, that helped to accentuate the slight muscle that was revealed on his exposed skin. His ripped jeans, converse, and band tee didn't much help him fit in, though. You could tell that he wasn't from around here. But, frankly, no one seemed to mind. Especially not the ogling girls.
I tried to stray my eyes as he walked past, but at the last moment his eyes glanced up to look into mine, captivating me and holding me still. The eye contact only lasted the few seconds he took to pass me, and then his eyes were once again trained on the floor.
Chatter slowly started to consume the students in the hall once more and Sophie turned to me with an ecstatic look on her face.
"He looked at you!"
"So?"I tried to play it cool, but my heart was still beating rapidly from the incident just moments ago.
She looked at me sideways in frustration as we started to head towards our first class.
"Well, he didn't look at anyone else smarty pants."
"He probably just recognized me from TV or something. That or he was just peeved that I was gawking at him,"I huffed, trying to dismiss this un rational idea of hers.
"Or you guys are soul mates and you were meant to see each other and fall in live at first sight,"she said dreamily, just looking off into space.
"Whatever. We have class so we better get going."
