Fighting For Your Life

"She's mine" the words play in my mind. My dreams are coming true. I have to find her before it's too late, I can't let my dark side change her into what I saw in my dream. 

I throw the letter on the floor and limp over to my shield and sword and place them on my back.

No matter how much pain I'm in I have to get to her before its too late.

I race out the door and leap onto Epona. We start off to Hyrule Field to see if there is anything signs of her or my dark side.

I have no idea where she could be, there are so many places to check.

I place my head in my hands and try to think of where my dark side would be, there's just too many options.

I try to think of somewhere. Anywhere. But there's no where that he could hide in secrecy.

That's when I get an idea. He's my other half, if I think about where I would hide he should be there too.

I try to think harder, think about what I would do if I was trying to hide, or trying to hide Zelda from danger.

There's no where that I would go to protect Zelda. None of the places in Hyrule are safe anymore.

The only place that I thought was safe was my house, but I was wrong, now Zelda is captured by my dark side and is on her way to being dark too.

I take a deep breath and rub my temples, all this thinking and all the nightmares are giving me a headache.

Epona jumps on to her hign legs, sending me flying off her. I land on my back which doesn't help the pain.

What startled her?

I try to sit up but the pain is unbearable. I can hear footsteps coming to me. I large hand grabs the collar of my shirt and lifts me up.

I scream out in pain as he holds me in mid air. He just laughs and throws me back onto the ground.

When I land I think I hear something crack. I take a deep breath trying to ease the pain, but its no use.

"Zelda said you were strong" his deep voice rattles.

The mention of Zelda strikes something in me and I immediately stand up.

When I look who I am talking to I notice it is a Darknut.

"Where is Zelda?" I ask, my hand hovering over my sword.

"That is a secret, but if you fight me, and win, then I might tell you."

"I will fight you. Anything for Zelda."

I pull out my sword, ready to fight.

I have to be careful with my injuries, but I must beat him.

I take the first swing and clash our swords together. He takes the next swing and I block it with my shield. I take a swing for his leg and knock off a piece of his armour. A keep swinging and blocking knocking off all of his armour. I have one more piece left. I think I will be able to beat him.

I take the last swing and knock off the last piece of armour.

The Darknut looks down at himself and notices his armour is gone. He then throws his large sword at me. I try to dodge it but my leg hurts too much.

The sword hits me and I fall to the ground smashing my head off a rock. I can feel the blood running from my head. Everything starts to go fuzzy and I find myself drifting into a very deep sleep, I can hear the Darknuts evil laugh as I drift off, and the only thing I can think of is Zelda.

I can't stop, it reminds me too much of Link. They way he holds me, the way he kisses me, its all too familiar.

My heart it telling me to pull away but my brain is not listing.

Before I can stop it we are interrupted by the large doors being opened.

A Darknut walks into the room with no armor on. "Master, it is done" with his panting it is hard to hear.

What is done?

I look closer at the Darknut to see blood smeared on him. An image pops in my mind. Link.

My feet make me run past the Darknut and into the dungeon where I was held. I walk past all the cells until I see him. Lying on the floor with his eyes closed.

His blond hair is now red from the blood. His once rosy cheeks have lost there color. His soft pink lips are now dry and grey

Is he dead?

I reach my hand into the cell and grab his. I can feel a small pulse on his wrist. He's fighting to stay alive. A single tear runs down my cheek.

"Link? Link if you can hear me, I-" Before I can say anything else I am picked up off the ground and on my feet.

Dark Link is standing there breathing heavily, his dark red eyes seem to be staring into my soul.

"Why did you come here?" He asks, his deep voice echoing through the dungeon.

I swallow hard "I knew the Darknut had done something to Link when he came to tell you, and I had to find him and make sure he was alright."

He laughs, "In a matter of days he won't be alright, he'll be dead"

I gasp and run back over to the cell opening it and sitting beside him.

"Link! Please wake up!!" I scream. 

I place both my hands on his cheeks and let the tears fall, "Please!! Please Link!!!" I cry.

I look over at Dark Link, "why did you do this? Why are you trying to kill him?"

"He is like my enemy, even though he is my other half, I need him, but I don't, so what's the point of keeping around? He'll kill me if I don't kill him first" he laughs. I need to think of a way I can save Link before its too late.

"So your just going down without a fight?"

"I didn't say that, I just don't want to die"

"So you would rather live as a coward then die as a true fighter? You don't believe in dieing for what you want?"

He shakes his head, "your determined Zelda, but what are you trying to get at?"

"Let me save him, and if you do, I'll let you turn me dark".
