Drew POV
I exited my room and began to walk down a wing that would lead me to the garden; I wanted to see if I could try to find a tree to practice on with my sword. I felt a drip of water fall from my ponytail and onto my back. I brushed it off, I was wearing a pair of my military jeans and a black wife beater, with my sword slung through my belt buckle. How I wish they had a military training center here…
Just as the thought entered my mind a group of soldiers turned the corner. They were obviously intoxicated because they were all leaning heavily and waving their swords through the air like it was stick. One of them caught my eye and a sly grin crossed his face. I frowned as he itched at his short, buzz cut blonde hair and his light blue eyes stayed locked with mine. He nudged the two other men with him and nodded his head towards me.
My hand automatically went to my swords hilt for I knew what they wanted to do and I was not going to let them. I looked around. I was in a small corridor with doors at frequent 10 feet intervals and lamps burning with a purple flame five feet after each door. I could turn around now and run, but that would make me look like a coward and they would chase after me, or I could confront them and have the chance of losing against them in a fight. Yet they were all intoxicated so it wouldn’t be that hard to overpower them and get away. Plus this could be my chance at getting a little practice in.
I kept my head high and continued to stride down the hall toward them. I noticed their sly grins grow as they let out a loud whoop. “Hey honey,” the one that had caught my eye slurred, “Why don’t we take you into these rooms and have a little fun?”
I scowled at him and as I neared at him spit at his feet, a sign of disrespect. The man came to a halt and starred at me, “You little b***h! Grab her boys!” he was obviously the leader of the group. My mind was going a thousand miles an hour, if I took him out his boys would hesitate, unsure of what to do and I could take my chance and get at them.
“Solider what rank are you?” I asked as his boys began to stumble towards me. They stopped for a moment, confused by my question.
The man grunted, “A sergeant you little-”
“Then I recommend that you tell your ‘boys’ to back off,” I growled, slowly unsheathing my sword.
The man threw his head back and his boys began to advance on me. I shook my head and quickly took a large step forward and swung my sword at one of them. They weren’t expecting it and I grazed their right arm, leaving his military uniform torn as blood began to leak out of it. He roared in annoyance and unsheathed his sword, making an unskillful jab at me. I quickly parried it with ease and took a step towards the man. With one swift movement I brought my sword slightly above my head and brought the hilt down upon his head with all my force.
There was a loud crack and the man fell limply to the ground. I kicked him as he fell upon my feet and turned to the other solider who was staring at me with a look of pure loathing, “You’re going to pay,” he growled and charged at me, fists raised, not even bothering to unsheathe his sword, the idiot. I sidestepped and he rushed at the wall, hitting it with a hard slam. My eyes travelled up to the lamp blazing above his head.
My hand quickly shot down to my combat boots and grabbed one of my long hunting knives and I brought my hand back and threw the knife at it. As the knife struck it the lamp shattered into a hundred pieces, raining down upon the solider that was pushing up from the wall. As he shook off the glass the candle fell down upon his uniform and it caught aflame. The man screamed like a little boy and fell to the ground, trying to pat out the fire.
