chapter two- part one
The air was crisp as well as smooth. She was connected to the wind, almost like she was welcoming it to flow through her hair and vibrate against her skin. The tree where she spent her lunch periods was her personal haven. Cassandra looked at the tree and saw history. She saw events passing before her very eyes. The tree had been nicknamed "Lotus Life" because its beauty entranced everyone to stay and sit by the tree forever. Cassandra is one of its many victims. However, unlike most, she continued to stay even after the brief fascination was over. It reminded her that magic isn't everything. The tree made life simple and allowed her to calm down.
"You sicken me."
That phrase made Cassandra pop out of her daydream. Looking over, she saw a very dramatic scene being played out.
There was a girl, who Cassandra recognized from the halls of the Gemini building, and a young man who she never seen before in her life. In all honesty, she had never seen a person look like that on the campus.
"Probably a person of another sign," thought Cassandra as she continued to watch the scene.
She believed the girl's name was Ashely, however she wasn't quite sure. Ashely's hair was a dark brown that flowed down her back and curled at the bottom. She was also tall, like most Geminis, and beyond all she acquired the infamous Gemini feature: her light eyes. Although Cassandra wasn't in the best position at the moment, hiding behind a large tree and all, she could accurately see the girl's shining light eyes. They looked like a combination of only the lightest shades of green and blue and contrasted greatly against Ashely's caramel skin tone. Cassandra was instantly jealous, wishing she could have that feature.
The guy she was yelling at was her complete opposite. He had bushy eyebrows that rested above his black, almond shaped eyes and had bulging muscles that were clearly shown by the tightness of his shirt. His head was full of light brown messy curls that had a reddish tint to it, especially when viewed in the sun. However, her focus was drawn his red, extremely angered face.
"This is not going to end well," Cassandra thought.
"I'm not having this conversation with you again Ally," Ally, not Ashely...at least she was close, "Enough is enough."
"Oh please," Ally exclaimed. "Did you even listen to me the first time? Probably not. You'll never get it through your thick skull! All you do is talk and never listen! Jared will love to hear this. Did you forget about-"
He suddenly covered her mouth and whispered in her ear. This action however made her even more mad. With great force, she used the air around her and pushed him off her. The man flew towards the one of the campus's lampposts and roughly hit his head.
Cassandra was about to scream when she caught sight of his blood, but thought it was best not to disturb the angered girl.
"You come near me again, it will be much worse," said Ally, and with that, left the man there.
Despite watching the entire scene with wide eyes, Cassandra couldn't believe what she saw. How had no one heard them, especially with the pair of lungs that girl had? She obviously hadn't understood an ounce of what they were speaking about. Who was Jared? Perhaps she shouldn't alert anyone of the dispute that just went on in front of her very eyes.
A tiny groan coming from next to the tree made her head snap to the lamppost.
"I can't just leave him there," she thought to herself.
Despite the fact that she was probably going to regret her decision to get involved, Cassandra packed her backpack and set forward to try to help the mysterious man with an injured head.
