-Mina's POV-
I woke up at 4:30 am so I would have just enough time to get to the airport. I put on my outfit I laid out last night: a white T-Shirt, a striped sweater that goes over the t-shirt, blue jeans, and white high-top Converse shoes. I threw my hair into a bun because I didn't really want to spend much time doing it. I applied a basic layer of bb cream, mascara, and light pink lipstick. I made sure that everything I needed was in my luggage.
"That's everything." I say as I struggle zipping my suitcases back up.
I touch my neck and realize that I'm not wearing my necklace my grandmother gave me.
-Five Years Ago-
"I don't want to leave grandma and grandpa!" I say as I cry. It was our last day in Korea. My grandmother smiled at me.
"Here. I've been waiting to give this to you. I didn't know when it would be best to do so, but here you go." My grandma says as she hands me a small, velvet pouch.
I open the pouch and there's a necklace inside. It's a gold heart locket with a picture of my grandmother and me as a toddler. I look on the back of the locket. It has the phrase "Grandma is always close to your heart."
"Thank you so much." Tears start forming in my eyes. I know that I'll see them again soon, but who knows when that'll happen.
-Present Day-
I search all throughout my room, clearly knowing that I don't have enough time to do this. I found the necklace inside that same little pouch in my desk drawer. I take the necklace out and put in on, smiling. I'll be there soon, grandma. Now I'm ready to go. I hear a knock on my door.
"Hey. Are you ready?" My dad asks.
"Yeah." I told him.
My dad takes one of my suitcases, while I take the other one and my backpack, which contains all the essentials for the plane ride to Korea. I look at my room one more time. I won't be seeing it for a while. We walk outside and I look at the house.
"I'll see you in a month." I speak to the house.
We put all my luggage in the trunk and we drive off to the airport.
"Are you excited?" My mother asked me.
"Of course!" I exclaim. "I'm also kinda nervous."
"Why?" My dad asks while his eyes are glued to the road as he drives.
"It's my first time being on a plane by myself. I'm going on a flight that will take me halfway around the world. Of course I'm a little nervous." I admit to my parents.
"You'll be okay. If there's wifi on the plane, just text us or Kim. We will do our best to make you feel okay." My dad comforts me.
We keep up small talk until my dad asks me, "Don't you want to see that one boy group you always talk about?"
"Oh, do you mean BTS?" I answer with a question.
"Yeah. They are on tour right now, with shows in Korea while I'm there. I really hope I get to see them live." I smile at the thought.
Now I really need to see them. Who knows if I'll have another chance to go to Korea again. I probably will, but definitely not in the near future.
Before I know it, we are at the airport. They drop me off at my terminal. Both of my parents get out of the car and help me get my luggage out of the trunk.
"Have a safe trip." My dad says to me.
"Don't give your grandparents any trouble!" My mom teased.
