The Knight in Shining Armor

Yes, Darien and the dwarfs got knighted and now, they are the ones who stop me from escaping! Can't you see the injustice? But the good side of this is that I get to talk to Darien. He keeps me sane, somehow.

" Princesee Sabia?"

"Yes, Sir Darien?" I have to call him "sir" now.

" The King ordered me to accompany you in your morning stroll."

I climbed down the ladder he brought and we walked around the garden.

" Sabia? I---" he stammered.

" Hmm?"

" Your birthday is coming up, and--"

" Yes?"

" About the curse--"

" you know all about the curse?" I bowed my head, feeling sad.

" Your father told me. And I'm scared, Sabia." he said, teary-eyed.

To be honest, I was shocked why he was tear-eyed and all.But then I relaized, he was scared for me.

" Darien, look at me. I'm fine." I comforted him. " Nothing's going to happen to me as long as you're here."

He looked at me with a face so scared and shaken. I held his trembling hand and placed it on my wrist and said:

" See? I still got a pulse. I'm still alive."

" But--"

" Sshh. Stop, Darien. No one is going to hurt me." I assured him. But he is crying now.

" Darien, why are you---?"

" I am so sorry, Sabia." he said, shaking madly. I took his arms and sat him down on a nearby bench.

" Why are you apologizing?" I asked. I looked in his eyes, and all I can see is fear. " Darien, are you sick? I can get you---"

" Your Highness? It's time to go--hic--- back to your ---hic---tower." Hiccups was already waiting for me to stand up, and so I had no choice but to leave Darien behind.

I climbed up my tower and got disturbed by the fear in Darien's eyes before. Why was he so afraid for my birthday? I know that my 18th birthday is 2 days away, but why worry? My parents are even pretending that I don't exist, that's why they lock me up, but why was he scared?

I let myself fall on the bed. My head ached and my feet got sore after the walk.I didn't realize that I was already asleep.
