Okay, so I was having the time of my life. I wasn't worrying about the curse and all. I was having fun for the first time! I drank punch, ate a lot of chocolate truffles, sang Happy Birthday, and danced with the hottest guys on the planet! I danced with Princes Val, Ed, Grimm, Josh and Huddly. I even danced with the dwarfs! And the best part was that I danced with Darien. My heart was all aflutter when he took my hand. I was dying inside! He smiled at me the whole time, and made my heart beat faster than usual.
"Sabia?"
"Yes?"
" You look beautiful."
" Oh, thank you."
" Come on, I wanna show you something."
He took me by the hand and pulled me out of the ballroom, towards the star-lit garden.
" I---."
This is it. He's gonna tell me he loves me.
" Sabia, I---"
Any moment now.
" Sabia, I'm sorry."
He kissed me. I felt tears streaming down his face. And he looked at me with eyes full of pain and guilt. He backed a few paces away from me to reveal a hunched, ugly, old woman.
" Want an apple my pet?" she cooed.
" What?"
" Would you like a bite?"
The apple looked so tempting. It gleamed before me, and it looked so juicy and delicious. And before I could even strangle myself, I took a bite, and everything went black.
