Allah says in Quran:
"It is He Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. They swim along, each in an orbit. "
(Quran 21:33)

In 1512 the astronomer Nicholas Copernicus presented a theory that the Sun is motionless at the center of the solar system and the planets revolve around it.

The belief that the Sun is stationary was widespread amongst astronomers until the 20th century.
Today, it is now a well-established scientific fact that the Sun is not stationary but is moving in an orbit around the center of our galaxy.

Modern scientific knowledge has shown that our galaxy revolves on its own axis.
The sun thus revolves in an orbit around the center of the galaxy.
This was not known to man 1400 years ago.
The concept of motion of the heavenly bodies with an orbit of their own belongs to modern science.

Just a couple of decades ago, the Quran would have been wrong according to astronomers of that time but today, Quran's definition of the Sun's motion is consistent with modern Astronomy.
