Oh, no! I did not just do that! I look at the mess I made on Shawn's shirt as he looked at mine. "Ummm," I thought of words to say but the only word that came out was: "Hi." WHY? A smile floats on to his face.
"Hi. Shawn." He sticks out his hand despite that we still had each other's ice cream on each other.
I take his hand and shake it. "Tiffany." I let a small smile come across my face. "I'm sorry. For spilling ice cream on you." I feel all the eyes burning into my head. "I - uh - should leave." I grab a bunch of napkins and give it to Shawn with out looking up. I quickly leave with the rest of the napkins.
As I opened the door, I heard Veronica Kello say to Shawn loud and clear. "Don't go Shawn, she's not worth the time." Shawn said somethings. "Shawn, I don't care if she's the daughter of Hope and Bill Brooks. That doesn't define her." Shawn speaks some more but I was already out of the door.
My Your Life group followed me out, leaving the ice cream at the table. "Tiffany, you okay?" I look up through teary eyes to see Vincent walking, well, jogging now down the street. I shake my head.
"No," I sniffed as I tried to wipe off ice cream from my shirt. "I'm not okay." The group burst out of the shop. A tear rolls down my cheek.
"Who did this to you?" Vincent was purely concerned.
"It was technically Shawn," I threw away the napkins in the trash and sat down on the bench. "I ran into him because I wasn't looking." I wipe away the tears. "Gosh, I'm so stupid."
"No you are not, girl." Sara patted my back. "Actually, Shawn wasn't looking either. So, it was both of their fault." Sara smiled at Vincent. "Let's go some where else." I just nodded my head.
"Sure." I stand up and as we walked away, Shawn looks at the window. Our eyes met and time froze or at least I did because Steph had to give me a light push. I give a small wave to Shawn and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Shawn returned the gesture.
At the park...
"Let's play something." Philp suggested as we sat on the lush green grass. "Like Tag!" Everyone agreed including Vincent, but I stayed silent. "Well, do you wanna play?" Philp nudges me softly.
"Um, I don't know. I'm not much of a runner." I lied. I actually go to the gym and run the track for a long time. A few times, I actually ran a four minute mile. Hope they don't catch on.
"LIE! LIE! LIE!" Steph started to chant. I shot him a glare and he immediately stop. "Well, it is. Your parents post a video a couple months ago with you doing a four minute mile."
"Come on, it's only tag." Mickey stands up and brushed off his black jeans. His red shirt hugged his 17 year old body, showing off his 17 year old abs and muscles. I shrug and stand up, brushing myself off too. Soon, everyone is up and brushing themselves off of lingering grass.
"Who should be it first?" Vincent chuckles.
"It should be Philp because he suggested it first." Sara said in a sing-sang voice.
"It should be you," Philp countered back at Sara. "Because you stole my lollipop in 3rd grade." Hold a grudge much.
"Or maybe, it should be Vincent because he gave us homework with school only a few weeks away." Popped in Steph. All eyes turn on our councilor.
"No, no, no." Vincent put up his hands then pointed one at Mickey. "It should be Mr. Douglas because he said it's just tag, but it involves running. No one like running. Well, for the most part."
"What? No, it should be Tiffany because she spilled ice cream on SHAWN MENDES!"
"That's it!" I half chuckled. I chased down Mickey and tagged him. "Ha, you're it." And the game of tag began.
It lasted for 30 mintues before the fun was spolied when I ran into Shawn, again. I was looking back at Philp as he chased me. When I did look forward, I saw Shawn, but it was to late. I accidentally tackled him. We both fall on to the soft grass with a hard thud.
"Um, hi." Shawn moved a piece of my brown hair behind ear. I give a small nervous chuckle.
"Sorry," I looked at the grass. "I didn't mean to run into you." I gazed into his bright brown eyes.
"Is it going to be a habit?" A flirty smile flashes across his hansome face.
"Ha, I hope not. It's really giving me a head ache." I rub my head.
"Well, I can survive a few head aches if it ment seeing you." Shawn chuckles.
"Uh, Shawn!" A highish voice shrilled out. "What are you doing under that nasty piece of vermin!" All laughter and talking stopped as I scrambled off of Shawn. I look around to see my new found friends and Vincent glaring at Veronica.
"What's your deal, Roni?" Shawn was angry, more like filled with rage and embarrassment. "Does it matter if I talk to Tiffany?"
"Yeah, she is a loner. You are famous." Veronica crossed her arms over chest.
"Tiffany Brook is too famous. She's on the news, daily." Shawn jumps up.
"Correction, her parents are T.V. She is only merely mentioned." Veronica stated plainly. "So let's go, my dad is waiting for us around the corner." Veronica turns to leave followed by her boyfriend, Zac.
"Ugh," Shawn turns to me, all anger is gone. Only happiness and little bit of sadness filled his eyes. "Sorry, but I can't make Mr. Kello waiting. So, I'll see you around?"
"Yeah, but I would most likely crash into you." I bit my lip for letting those words fall out of my mouth.
Shawn laughs. "Good one." He turn to leave, but quickly whips back with a red washable marker. Where did he get that marker?
He grabs my arm and writes his number down. "Quick, write down your number." He looks back, watching out for Veronica. I did as was told.
We take our phones and quickly take a picture of each other. "Okay, hurry. I don't want you to get in trouble." I shoo him away. He nods and sprints away.
I walk back to the group. "What was that all about?" Asked Steph.
I took a deep breath. "I. Got. His. NUMBER!!" I squealed in excitement; only Sara joined in with me by jumping up and down.
"Not to shabby for a shy girl." Philp lightly punches my arm.
"Shut up." I chuckled. I added Shawn in my contacts along with everyone else's numbers and pictures.
A few mintues later, my phone chimed, telling me that I had a text message. "Who's it from?" Sara leans over my shoulder.
"I don't know. Let's see." I pull out my phone. "OMG, its from Shawn."
"What does it say?" Sara giggles.
"Whoa, didn't mean to crash into you. S.M." I read aloud. Total flirt. "What should I text back?" I asked Sara.
"Shoot, I don't know." Sara pondered for awhile.
"Don't worry, I got one." I nudge Sara. "Um, hi." We giggled at my response.
"What's so funny?" Asked Mickey. Sara and I exchanged looks which made us burst out laughing.End of Chapter 2
