So, this is my first DEH fic, so yeah, enjoy!

Dear Evan Hansen,

Today is going to be a good day, and here's why,

Because today, maybe Conor will notice you, even though you always worry about being awkward around him, which you shouldn't worry about because it won't happen because you never talk to him.

Maybe, maybe today you will say something to him. Maybe you will get him to sign your cast, and you can talk to him and thank him for taking his time to be with you. No, don't say that, that will make you seem gay....

But Connor, if I could tell him how he is everything to me, but we're millions of worlds apart. But I don't know how to start.

But maybe you could, because these letters are supposed to help me be confident, you could.

Sincearly,

Me.

He printed out the paper and looked at it. It seemed good enough, until he realized he would be sharing it with his mom.

"Evan, oh good, you've finished the letter!" She grabbed it before he could protest. And began to read it outloud.

"Dear Evan Hansen, today is going to be a good day and here's why, because today Connor... might notice you?" His mom glanced up as he continued to blush.

"Uh, sorry, I have to go to school or I'll be late," Evan grabbed his bag and headed for the door.

"Wait! Who's Connor?"

"Nobody! I really have to go mom, I love you!" He raced out the door before she could push the matter any further.

"Hey, um, Jared, do you want to sign my cast?" He asked, smiling a bit.

"Why would you ask me that?" Jared sighed and looked at him.

"Be- because we're friends?" He sounded unsure of himself.

"No, we're family friends, that's not the same thing and you know it!" Jared laughed and began to walk away.

"Hey Connor! Loving the haircut, very school-shooter chic." Jared laughed to himself, Connor turned around slowly.

Jared held up his hands in mock surrender. "I was kidding, it's a joke." Evan gulped as he saw Connor step towards jared.

"Yeah no it was funny. See, I'm laughing, can't you tell? I'm sorry, am I not laughing hard enough for you?" Jared backed away, chuckling nervously.

"You're such a freak." And with that Jared walked away.

"What the fuck are you laughing at?" He asked Evan.

"Nothing! I- I'm not laughing at you, because, Ja- Jared is um, a, um, dick, and he shouldn't have uh, said that, because it wasn't very nice, and um, and," he paused for breath.

But when he looked at Connor, he almost died. He had moved closer, but was almost in shock at what Evan had said. "And I, uh, should've stopped him, from uh, saying that, so um, I'm sorry,"

"Oh." And with that Connor Murphy backed down from a fight.
