Alexander left for classes early in the morning, although he was extremely tired from staying up the night before. He checked his schedule. He had humanities with Mr. Washington first.

Alexander arrived at the classroom and sat down at a desk, right at the front row.. Washington looked up from the book he was reading and checked the time. 6:30 am.

"Ah, Alexander, early as always," Washington greeted him and went back to reading his book. Alexander snorted and took out his laptop and began writing the essay that was due in two weeks.

"You know you could take a break, son. That essay is not due for a while," Washington said, already knowing what Alexander was working on.

"First of all, I'm not your son. Second of all, I like to get stuff done as soon as possible," Alexander said, continuing to type furiously. Washington shook his head.

The students began flooding into the classroom and sitting down at desks. One caught his eye in particular. Thomas Jefferson came and sat down right next to Alexander, just to tick him off. Alexander growled and threw a sharp glare in Thomas's direction. Thomas chuckled.

"No need to be so short-tempered, Hamilton," Jefferson drawled, and Alexander gritted his teeth. He was so tempted to just punch Thomas right in the nose, then and there.

"Boys, settle down. Class hasn't even started and you're already about to get in an argument," Washington said with a heavy sigh. Alexander reluctantly kept quiet and Thomas turned away, satisfied.

Alexander sat through the next few hours of class, throwing crumpled sticky notes with insults on them at Thomas, only partially listening to the lesson. Of course, it wasn't only one-way. Thomas threw plenty too. Alexander heard the bell ring and shot out of his seat, ready for lunch. He pulled out his phone and texted John. John had given him his number after the fight with Charles yesterday.

SmolBean: wanna go out for lunch?

TurtleBoi: sure! Where?

SmolBean: what about the cafe?

TurtleBoi: sounds good to me. See you in 10!

Alexander put away his phone and walked out of the building, eager to see John's face.

Alexander walked into the cafe, immediately spotting John and racing over to him. He sat down in the seat across from him and smiled.

"Hey John!" Alexander said cheerfully.

"What's up, Alex?" John asked, smiling back.

"Nothin much," Alexander responded and looked at the waitress as she approached the counter.

"Hello, my name is Sally. What can I get for you boys?" Sally asked with a warm smile. Alexander ordered a muffin and a coffee, and John got an iced croissant and tea. Sally nodded and walked off to yell the order.

"Sooo, how's it with you and Charles?" Alexander asked. "Still at each other's throats?" John tensed and Alexander tilted his head curiously.

"We kinda made up, but I still don't like him. I would never forgive him for what he did to Hercules," John said. Alexander jumped at the name.

"Hercules? He's Lafayette's roommate!" Alexander exclaimed and John grinned.

"Lafayette? Oh, Hercules told me all about him, I think he's got a crush," John added at the end and Alexander giggled.

"Lafayette does too," he said, remembering the text in French that Lafayette had sent him.

"Well, both of our best friends are in love. It would be kinda weird if we were too," John said, rubbing the back of his head. Alexander blushed, to which John noticed and chuckled.

"So, you aren't?" Alexander asked. John's eyes widened at the question. His face went red, too.

"Er, I- um..." John trailed off, his blush intensifying. "The weather's been nice." Alexander almost spewed coffee all over the table from laughing.

"Wow, there goes John, desperately trying to change the subject," Alexander commented and John laughed nervously.

"Dang it, you got me," John said.

"So, what's the answer to the question?"

"I am."
