I had the craziest weekend, that I was almost excited to go to school. I might actually be excited though. I get to see all my old friends and my best friend Caitlin!

-

I walk into school hoping to make a good second impression on people.

The thing is that I was really shy 4 years ago, so I didn't really have many friends. The only friends I had were Eric, Caitlin, Jeffery, Mason, Emily, and Penny. They were mostly popular, even if I wasn't.

I've grown up a lot and I finally had my, very wanted, glo-up. I was hoping to have some rebounds in the near future to help me get over Grayson. Maybe even find a boyfriend in the process, I was planning on staying there, even if I haven't talked to my parents about it yet...

I walked straight into my first period because I had talked to the counselor the day before so I wouldn't have to miss any of my classes. I know, I'm a bit of a nerd, but math was my first period and I love math.

I took out my books and started looking around my classroom for any of my friends. Great. None of them were in here.

"Since we just finished our last unit, we'll be starting a project today. This does mean we will be getting partners, except I will be picking your partner for you all so there aren't any fights between friends. You're welcome in advance." The teacher says.

"Amelia Baines, you will be paired up with Ethan Dolan." He says looking around the room. "Well, well, well, the two new kids got picked as partners." He comes over to my table and whispers to me, "Time for a fresh start, huh? Go over there at sit by Ethan, he specifically asked for you to be his partner."

I smile and nod at him. Why the hell was Ethan still in Cincinnati? No one wants him here!

I look around the room to spot Ethan. How did I not see him before? I finally see him in the very back. "What are you doing here?" I ask him.

"Grayson made me. He's determined to get you back. He loves you."

"Maybe he should've thought about that before he fucked Abby." I roll my eyes, Grayson isn't getting away with it that easy.

"Amelia-"

"Whatever. I don't wanna talk about this. Let's just finish this project so we don't have to see each other much longer."

He looks at me confused. "You know this project lasts for three weeks right?"

I frown. "You've got to be kidding me! Three weeks? That's bullshit."

"Can you come over tonight? We can work on the project and maybe work some personal things out." He smiles, his innocent smile.

"I'd rather die before I'd be in the same room with you and Grayson again." I fake smile.

He laughs, an obvious fake one, just like my smile. "Don't make me call your mom. I don't think she would let you run away from your problems that easily, would she?"

"I don't think your mom would like it if she knew you fake dated Abby, just so no one knew she was fucking Grayson behind my back, would she?" Two can play that game, jackass. "I used to think the world of you Ethan, why would you do this to me? You knew I loved him and you just let it go on for weeks!"

He was speechless. "Amelia. I had no clue that while I was dating Abby, she was helping Grayson cheat on you. I thought Abby liked me, but then I figured out she liked Grayson. So we planned to tell you guys that we were in love with you all. I guess along the way Grayson and Abby fell in love. Maybe that's a sign that we should be together too." Ethan smirked and tried to hold my hand.

I pull away from his grip quickly. "I'm not over Grayson yet, and even if I was, you would be the last person I would date, let alone hook up with." I shake my head. "Can we just start the project already? Class is almost over."

He sighs, "I guess."

The bell rang short after. Thank god. My next class was Honors English 2, one of my classes with Eric.

"How'd your first class go?" Eric says while hugging me.

"Not that well." I say pulling him off me.

He's a bit shocked when I pull away from him. "What happened?"

"Ethan and Grayson are still in Cincinnati. And Ethan thinks that after all he's put me through, Grayson's fault or not, that I'd still want to get with him. Like no! He's such a pig."

"Oh." He says softly.

I would've thought Eric would've been more mad, at least a little shocked. "Oh?"

"Well they're sort of staying the guest house." My eyes go wide and I feel like I can't breathe. "When my parents asked which part of town they lived in, they told my parents they were having to stay in a hotel for the next month, so my mom jumped at the opportunity to help them. She didn't know they hurt you this badly. I'm so sorry! After I told her about it, she said not to upset you, that second chances should always be given."

I get up and hug him. "I can't be mad at you."

"Except you can be mad at me for weeks. Very fair Amelia." A too familiar voice says to me. "Did he tell you that Abby tried to get with him? Or that he actually got with her?"

Why does this always happen? What did I do?
