We finally got to the station and as we got closer to the building we noticed Worick leaning against the building, lighting the cigarette that was being held between his lips. He took a puff of his cigarette and then turned his head to see Nicolas and I walking up the steps to the station.
"Oh there you are Nico, I've been waiting for you. Was worried maybe you got into some trouble." Worick said with a smirk. Nicolas ruled his eyes and signed something to him. Worick then started to laugh and then turned to me.
"You changed your outfit I see. You know you could've taken a few minutes to relax before you came down here, you did have a pretty rough night." He said smiling at me; he took another puff of his cigarette.
"Honestly, it's better if I get it done now then to wait later, I also still need to look for a new job. I just still can't believe Mr. Larson died." I rubbed my left forearm with right hand.
Worick removed the cigarette from his mouth and started to speak. "Seems like the guy owed a few people money. My guess he fucked with the wrong guy and they took him out when he came to up the bar. From what I've seen of the people he knew, could have been a lot of people. His 'friends' were not very friendly."
"Mr. Larson did have a few enemies. But I thought he was rich, he always seemed like money wasn't a problem for him." I said confused. The man I had worked for never seemed to have a care in the world when it came to money. To find out he owed people money and that someone killed him just to get it is still crazy to me.
"You can only know so much about a person from what you see on the outside. Inside is a whole different story." He said taking a final puff from his cigarette and then tossing it to the ground, stepping on it to put it out. "Just let the receptionist inside know you need to speak with Inspector Adkins about the Larson murder. She knows the employees of the Blue Moon are suppose to come in to answer questions." I nodded.
"Thank you both so much, I really appreciate the help and everything." I tuned to Nicolas and said, "And thank you again, for saving me." Nicolas signed to me and Worick translated. "He says 'you're welcome', if you need anything Ever, just give us a call." I nodded and started to head towards the stairs of the building when Worick called out to me.
"Oh, by the way, if you're in the market for a new job, stopped by our place after your done. I might be able to help you out. If you need the address, ask the inspector to give you a ride, he owes me a favor anyway." Worick smiled and waved and then turned around to rush back towards Nicolas, who was already walking away without him. I took a deep breath and walked up the stairs to the police station.
Once I was inside I walked up the young woman sitting at a desk, she was pretty; red hair, brown eyes, ivory skin and insanely bright red nails. "Hi, my name is Ever Castillo, I'm here to speak to Inspector Adkins about the Larson case. I work for the Blue Moon bar." I said with a small smile.
"Hold on one moment." She said as she picked up the phone and dialed a number. Soon after she spoke into the receiver.
"Sir, I have an Ever Castillo here to talk to you about the Larson case." There was silence as I lightly heard the man's voice on the other end of the phone. "Yes sir." She hung up the phone and looked up at me and spoke; "The inspector should be waiting for you. Just head up the hallway to the right." She leaned point down the to hallway facing my right. I nodded and thanked her as I walked up the hallway. I then reached a double doorway. I opened one and walked in to see many officers at their desks and others in there small offices off of the main floor of the room. All there desks were cover in folders and pages and pages of god knows what.
"You Ever Castillo?" I heard a heavy, deep voice ask me as I turned to my left to see the older man I had saw earlier this morning. He now had a lit cigarette between his lips and a folder of papers in his right hand. I nodded at the older man. "Come with me." He said to me, making sure to keep his cigarette held between his lips. He turned to the left and and heading to another set of double doors that was right next to someone's small office. He held the door for me and I walked through. I stepped aside to let him lead me down the hall of many doors of what I figured were more offices and things.
He then opened a door and allowed me to walk into a small room with a big table and two chairs facing each other. To the left of the wall was a bulletin board with many pieces of paper pinned to it. The other surfaces of the walls were just painted gray bricks.
The inspector shut the door behind him and told me to take a seat. I did so in the chair further away from the door. He put down the manila folder of papers down on the table and then sat in the chair facing me. "Can I see your I.D.?" He asked. "Sure." I said pulling my bag off my shoulders and into my lap to grab my wallet from out of my bag. Once I found it, I opened and slid out my I.D. card from its spot in my wallet and handed it to him. He took, looked me up and down and wrote something on a piece a paper he slipped out from the folder. He then handed it back to me and I returned it back to it's spot and then closed my wallet and put it back in my bag.
"So, Miss Castillo, how long have you worked for Mr. Larson?" The inspector asked as he looked at some pages he pulled out of the folder. "I've been working for him since I was 18 so I believe that's six years." I said, nervousness in my voice.
I guess the inspector could hear in my voice that. He looked up at me said "Look, kid, I know you didn't do it and I know for a fact you know nothing about the whole situation, Worick and Theo vouched for your whereabouts. But it's best to interview you and your coworkers as well, just in case. So don't freak out."
I felt really embarrassed about freaking out, but after he said all that I started to feel better. He continued to ask me questions about my shift, if I noticed anything weird about Mr. Larson in the pass few weeks, etc. We soon finished and he started to put away the papers he had written on back in the folder on the table.
"You need a ride home kid? Worick told me you had a pretty shitty night." The inspector asked me.
"If you wouldn't mind taking me to Worick and Nicolas' place, that'd be very helpful. Worick said he wanted to talk with me. That you would take him cause you owed him a favor." I said shyly looking at the ground.
The older man grunted and sighed. "Fine, let's go before I change my mind."
