Excuse Me

"Are you going to eat that?" Sherry pointed at the small sponge cake that I was lazily staring at. "You know, it's better to eat it than stare at it. Anything wrong?"

I pouted my lip and still stared at the sponge cake that she snatched to eat. "Nothing, I'm nervous about next week. You think I'm going to make it to the finals?"

"You're thinking too much and it's getting annoying!" Sherry yelled throughout the school cafeteria that made all curious eyes look at us. I felt my cheeks go red as curious glances. "I finished copying the assignment for Math Class but I forgot it in my locker. I'll give it to you before class in last period." I nodded.

Even though Sherry was what you call "Miss Pink and Popular", with her perfect features and body, she still became my friend. She was the only person who dared to talk to me. I was the one called Miss Invisible and Gray. I look so plain when I was by her side, but I didn't care. She was the only one who talks to me despite the fact that I was the snobbiest loner at school. Sherry always wore the most perfect outfits that you can think of. While I only wear simple shirts and pants that may occasionally go with some kind of sweater. To put it simply: she's like a cheerleader, and I'm the dork who sits on the bleachers.

As she licked the last remnants of the food she ate, she stood up and dragged my elbow out of the cafeteria.

"Where are we going?" I asked curling my eyebrows in annoyance.

"I have to see Ryan." She said simply and smiled her perfect smile. Ryan is the guy she's been dating for three months. I don't like him that much. He's a bit of a jerk when she's not around. Sherry said that she doesn't like him. Boys were like a toy for her. They come and go around her, and when she gets bored, she just dumps them like nothing happened.

I was too busy trying to break free from her grasp when I bumped with a guy who was holding a small back pack and was wearing sunglasses despite the fact that the hallway was lacking sunlight.

"Oops, sorry." I apologized. Sher ignored the accident and quickly went to her locker to drop her school.

"No, that's okay. No big deal." He said half smiling. I looked at his face when I tried to free my tangled hair off my face. The guy looked greatly familiar to me. He looked handsome although I couldn't see his eyes through the think sunglasses he wore.

My cheeks flushed as I remembered who I bumped with. His name is Erin. He's the biggest craze at school right now. He just transferred two days ago from Europe with his sister after ten years of being away from the states. We used to be childhood friends when he was still here six years ago. My parents worked for his parent's company before it went bankrupt. It was a bit awkward being with him again. He looked differently before than ten years go. He was handsome; which made me think that I like him. "Oh, s-sorry Erin. I have to go now." I ducked my head when he suddenly grabbed my wrist that sent goose bumps up my neck.

"Liz, is that the way you treat your child hood friend?" He grinned and took off his glasses. I tried not to look at his dark brown eyes because it just makes me blush even more. I hate it when I blush; it states the obvious that I was embarrassed.

"Sorry, Erin, I'm in a bit of a hurry." I released my wrist from his grasp when Sherry stood beside us.

"Hey Erin! Are you getting a hang of walking around here?" I haven't told Sherry about Erin. There was no need anyway. She told me that she liked him as soon as she saw him. I have no shot against her anyways. She was perfect and so is he. They fit together.

"Come on Sherry, we have somewhere to go, right? Lunch time is almost over." I tugged her waist and quickly walked away from the scene.

"Bye, Erin!" She then quickly walked by my side. "Was he holding your hands earlier?" She asked with a curious look at me.

"No, I think it was just your imagination," I said simply . I waved goodbye to her at the front gate and walked opposite to where she was going.

To be honest, despite the fact that Sherry is nice, she is a bit of a boss around me. Sometimes I think that she sometimes takes advantage of me. She hates it when I have something that she likes and she doesn't. I didn't care anyways because it's better that she talks to me when no one does. I hardly care at anything other than filming. It's my greatest passion and the only thing I love to do the most.

Even since my parents died and left me alone to take care of myself, I've had my mind set on the saying: 'Do whatever you want, no one hardly cares for you anyways.' I lost hope on being loved by anyone ever since that day. It's a good thing that they left me a useful amount of fortune for me to cover at least ten years of my life and education. However, I still worked part time just to cover up my time.

It was dark already went I was coming home from my work as a service crew in a public food joint near my apartment. The dark makes me happy for some reason. It makes me feel alone like how I wanted it. I was never the social type. I distance myself from the crowd all the time. Sherry was the only one who walks up to me when she wants. She has other friends to who are more sociable and good looking. Sometimes I wonder why I even let her talk to me.

A sudden feeling that I was being followed stopped me on my feet. I quickly looked behind to see nothing but the dark alley I left behind. I shrugged the feeling and quickly paced my walk to the corner of where I lived.

I jumped to my feet when someone touched me at my shoulder. "Hey."

I didn't dare to look at the stranger and tried to scream but he quickly covered my mouth and said, "Don't worry. It's me, Erin."
