Chapter 6

The party had been lively for about an hour. People were already there, but there were still stragglers. Raven sat chatting with Juvia, waiting for Laxus to get there. After a few minutes, she turned to a tap on her shoulder.

"Laxus!" she exclaimed. "I'll talk to you later, Juvia!" she called to the water mage, who waved and bounced off.

"Hey..." he mumbled.

Raven blushed a bit. "It's good to see you again..."

Laxus nodded in agreement, even though they had only seen each other like three hours ago. "So, what's up?" he asked. It was a stupid question since they were at a party, but a good way to strike up conversation.

Raven shrugged. "Nothing really. Happy was waiting for me at my house and kept bugging me about where I was. What about you?" she asked.

"I was just with Freed, Evergreen, and Bixslow," he answered simply.

"Oh, that must have been fun," Raven sighed. "I've never actually met the Thunder Legion.."

"Do you want to meet them?" Laxus asked. He didn't really want to face them while he was with Raven, mainly Evergreen, but if she wanted to meet them he would be okay with it.

"Oh, could I?" she asked hopefully. "I mean, if it's okay..."

Laxus stood and nodded. "Yeah, sure." He led Raven over to where the three of his friends were. "Hey, guys," he greeted.

"Hey, Laxus!" Evergreen said from her spot next to Elfman, who had an arm around her waist.

"Is this your date?" Bixslow asked, his babies echoing, "Date! Date!" That made Raven blush and Mira giggle. Even Freed and Cana cracked a smile.

"None of your business, really..." Laxus muttered. "Anyway, guys, this is Raven. Raven, this is Freed, Evergreen, and Bixslow."

"She's so cute!" Evergreen gushed. "You pick good, Laxus!"

"She seems like a good companion for you, Laxus," Freed said in agreement, placing his arm around Cana's shoulders.

"Laxus has a cute girlfriend!" Bixslow teased.

"Girlfriend!" his babies echoed. "Girlfriend!"

Raven blushed again. "Um... It's not..."

"It's not like that," Laxus growled, angry with his friends for making Raven uncomfortable.

"Oh, calm down, Laxus," Mira scolded. "They're just having fun." She leaned closer to whisper in his ear. "Between you and me, you guys make a cute couple."

Laxus blushed a little. "Mira! Ugh..." He and Mira were much closer than the average friends. They had grown up together, so they clicked a lot.

Mira giggled, grabbing Bixslow's arm. "Come on, Bix!" she said happily, pulling him away. Laxus waved and noticed Raven was still blushing as the others left as well.

"So, what do you wanna do?" he asked, changing the subject.

"Wanna dance?" she asked in return.

"Um... Why not?" he said with a smile, taking her hand. She pulled him onto the dance floor as a slow song started.

"I guess it's a slow song..." Raven said quietly. Laxus looked down at her. "Still wanna dance?" he asked.

"Well... we're already on the dance floor," she pointed out. "So we might as well."

Laxus nodded and placed a hand on her waist. She blushed and placed a hand on his shoulder. He looked away, not wanting to blush again.
