Later, Ruby and Jade were cleaned up, but they were still embarrassed that they made such a big mess in front of the boys. They saw Sofia and Hugo together. Hugo and Sofia were clean, but their clothes were still dirty.
"Axel thought I'd like playing with clay because it's like playing in the mud," Hugo told Sofia. "He was right—it's really fun."
"I honestly agree," Sofia smiled.
Seeing Sofia and Hugo together made Ruby and Jade jealous. They just didn't know why it was so easy for the princess to steal a boy's heart like that.
"Why is it so easy for Sofia to win herself a boyfriend?" Jade asked.
"I wish I knew," Ruby told her.
Later, Sofia's and Hugo's vases were taken out of the oven, and after the pottery cooled down, the royals sat down to glaze the vases. Sofia noticed how dull the colors looked.
"These colors look a little dull," Sofia remarked.
"They do now, but the vases have to be fired in the oven," Hugo told her. "Once the pottery is fired, the colors will turn brighter."
Ruby and Jade were jealous that it was easy for Sofia to steal Hugo's heart. They didn't know why it was so hard for them to win over a boy.
"Maybe we need to do something else to win over a boy," Ruby suggested.
"Hey, we can try painting," Jade suggested.
"Yeah, let's try it," Ruby agreed.
Later, after Sofia and Hugo finished glazing their vases, they joined Ruby and Jade in painting pictures. Ruby and Jade didn't know what to paint, but they saw the beautiful picture Sofia drew on her canvas.
"What's that, Sofia?" Ruby asked.
"It's from this book Hugo gave me for Wassalia," Sofia replied. "It's called Cinderella On Ice. It's based on Cinderella's story, but she goes to an ice-dancing ball, and she leaves her skates behind instead of a glass slipper."
"I'm glad you like the book, Sofia," Hugo smiled.
"And I'm glad you like the book I gave you: Lord of the Rink," Sofia told him.
Ruby and Jade decided to paint pictures of sporting events to lure boys. Jade decided to paint a football player. Ruby decided to paint a soccer player. Both girls worked on their paintings. But when they looked over at Sofia and Hugo, they showed smug smiles—and they weren't paying attention to their own art work. They never looked at what colored paints they were dipping their paintbrushes in.
Later, two boys came by. Ruby and Jade were very confident that these boys would really like their paintings. But when the boys came over, they tried not to cringe.
"Well, you girls must have an eye for abstract paintings," one boy said.
This confused Ruby and Jade very much—until they saw how hideous their paintings looked.
"Whoa, it wasn't supposed to look like that," Jade gulped.
Sofia and Hugo came over to see Ruby and Jade, and they tried not to cringe at the hideous paintings.
"Trying to practice painting with your eyes closed?" Sofia asked.
"Something like that," Ruby grinned sheepishly.
Ruby and Jade were embarrassed that they made such a mess. Sofia started to feel concerned for them.
"Hugo, have you noticed that Ruby and Jade are acting strange today—and not the way they used to?" Sofia whispered to Hugo.
"Yeah, I noticed too," Hugo agreed.
"I guess they're still envious of Prince Hugo, and they're really struggling to fight their envy," Meg surmised.
"Maybe so," Sofia shrugged.
