"Okay..." said Marquis trailing off while searching for Nates name on his clip board. "Cross...? Are you...?" he looked down at me. I nodded. I've told him things about Nate when he used to be my trainer and he has grown a hatred for Nate over the years even though he didn't know what he looked like.

Marquis looked back at Nate and clenched his jaw tightly. He looked terrifying. I think Nate noticed this because had a confused but scared look an his face. Nate took a small step back and looked like he was gonna make a run for it but Marquis cut off his thoughts. "You might wanna save that energy kid. You're gonna need it on the track." Marquis said almost mockingly. "Okay, those who want to participate line up on the track and wait for the whistle. The rest of you may sit out and watch." Said Marquis. Taylor looked at me and nodded towards the track.

Once we were all on the track lined up, Taylor and I Stood Beside each other in a starting position. Nate happened to be on the other side of me. He looked at me and winked. "If I win this baby I'll take you with me and we can spend the last hour in the closet." He said with a smirk. I looked over to Marquis and he nodded putting the whistle in his mouth. I looked back at Nate. "With you? No thanks." His smirk faded and he was about to speak again but I sped off in front of him when the whistle blew.
---------------------------------------------------------
We've been running for 20 minutes. I've done 12 laps and so has Taylor and neither of us have broken a sweat. If I've been counting correctly Nate has done 10 but it seems he's pacing himself. Taylor and I have been racing for at least 15 minutes. We haven't spoken because we don't want to waste any breath but 5 minutes in we keep giving each other these looks before running ahead only to have the other catch up.
---------------------------------------------------------
It's been 45 minutes and most of the other students have given up and there is only 5 of us left. School is over already so a lot of students from other grades and classes have gathered to watch. With that said, Skyler is here. So of course, Nate wants to show off. Taylor and I are neck and neck and are both at 32 laps. Nate is at 31 keeps speeding up and trying to get ahead but can't keep up at full speed. The other students boo whenever someone drops out of the race. Now it's only us. Taylor, Nate and I. Students are conflicted and cheer for us all because they just can't decide. Do they cheer for the jock or the two mystery girls? Taylor looks at me and gives me a look and immediately I knew she was gonna quit. I'm guessing she saw the confused look because she replied and said "It'll look better for you if you beat Nate rather than both of us." She was right but I didn't want her to look bad. "Chill, I made third place that's good enough." She said laughing and before I could protest she ran off of the track to the other students receiving multiple high fives from the other students.
---------------------------------------------------------
It's officially been an hour and I've picked up the speed. But.. so has Nate. The students are wildly cheering and almost screaming in excitement. I'm on my 49th lap and Nate is on his 40th. He's on my tail and is so close to tieing with me so I sprint as far as I can. Nate is breathing irregularly and looks as if he's gonna pass out and I almost felt worried for him.. Nah. I keep sprinting and I lose Nate. I could go on for an hour more if necessary but I know Nate could never last that long. He hasn't had the training I have. I think he'll last... 20 minutes longer. Oh, I spoke to soon. Nate fell and rolled on his back. I was on the opposite side of the track so I could clearly see him. When he fell the crowd of students all went silent. I continue to run as I watch the scene fold out. Marquis blows the whistle counting down from five to give Nate a chance to get up and continue. The students go silent and I slow down slightly when Nate tried to get up. He fell back down only making it up halfway. Marquis got to zero and everything was quiet. The only thing that could be heard is my slightly heavy breathing and the gravel under my shoes as I came to a stop.

I looked at the crowd and they all kept looking from me to Nate in awe. Had no one ever beat him? I thought the silence would continue forever until Taylor stood up and cheered. She caused a chain reaction and the crowd blew up in cheers and whistles. Marquis came up behind me and lifted my arm declaring me winner which only made the crowd cheer lowder.

Some people followed me to my motorcycle congratulating me after I changed. I got lots of high fives and pats on the back from the guys and looks of envy from the girls. I'm now top dog and Taylor and Tyler are my right hand men. One guy that congratulated me stood out though. He was taller than me and muscular not to much. He had perfect brown eyes and a jawline so sharp it was deadly. "Hey, you're the new girl that won the gym thing with Nate right?" he asked. My heart started to speed up when he spoke. "Yeah." I said looking down and distracting myself with a nonexistent dust speck on my helmet. "We should hang out sometime." He suggested giving me an award winning smile. "You know, just us." He said handing me my phone. "Uhm.. I don't think so but thanks for my phone back... wait how-" I looked up to ask how he had my phone but he was already getting in his car across the lot. I looked away stunned and slipped my phone in my pocket.

Taylor and Tyler walked out of the school 5 minutes later. "You ready?" Tyler asked getting in his car. Taylor got her motorcycle and so did I. "Let's get this show on the road." I said. Then Taylor and I sped off with Tyler following close behind.
