It had been almost three weeks since they had last seen each other so when the boy saw the girl in the street, he stopped dead in his tracks. He regrets walking out of the bookshop, he didn't spend weeks contemplating whether he should go in or not just to throw it away in one second because of one mean thing she said- he wasn't six. Yet he knew it wasn't because of the mean thing she said, it was because of the feeling in his stomach, the feeling that told him that he shouldn't be feeling anything for this girl. It's a deadman's zone.
The boy considered walking away but he found himself walking towards her before he could think. Once the boy was close enough to her, she saw him and her eyes focused on him and ignored the thing she was looking at behind him. The girls eyes widened a little.
"Hi." The girl said in her melodic voice that the boy had craved the past few weeks.
"Hi." He stopped in front of her. He looked down to see a very large cup of coffee in her hand.
"You like coffee, don't you?"
"I'm sorry." The girl blurted out, dismissing his previous comment. "For being rude, I didn't mean for it to come out like that." The boy shrugged.
"It's fine."

The girl tried to feel annoyed that she bumped into him but she couldn't help the butterflies that formed in her stomach and the happiness that washed over her.
"Do you want to go for a walk?" The boy asked. He seemed very forgiving, very quickly.
"I don't know you, you could be a murderer." She stated.
"If I was a murderer, I would have killed you by now."
"Was that meant to be reassuring?" The edges of the boy's lips pulled up into a smile.
"Come on." The boy started walking. The girl tried to object, she knew where this would go. Her mind was saying no but she found her feet starting to walk.

The boy and girl had been talking and walking for about an hour now and, even though they were both reserved, they found out a lot about each other. They were now sat on a bench looking out across the beach, the waves clap gently as the sun disappeared behind the ocean. The wind off the sea ruffled the girls hair and she brushed it out of her eyes with an impatient gesture. The girl became very aware of they boys eyes on her face. She gave a nervous glance towards him. The boys hand moved towards her face - she froze. He moved a piece of hair off her face. The girl turned her head towards the handsome boy yet looked down, avoiding his eyes. The boy's hand moved down to her chin and hooked a finger under it, facing her face toward him and forcing her to look at him. She couldn't do this. The girl moved away from him, she tried to make it subtle but it was obvious that the boy noticed when he frowned slightly.
"I'm sorry." It seemed as though the girl was always apologising, she was very good at messing everything up. "I can't do this." The girl whispered, shaking her head. She stood up and started to walk but stopped when she felt a warm hand on hers. The boy stood up, towering over her.
"Whats wrong?" The boy questioned in a low voice. The girl shook her head again and looked down, avoiding the question.
"Look at me." The boy almost demanded, the girl could hear the irritation in his voice, but there was something else there too. Her eyes drifted up to his face and he looked at her expectantly.
"I don't do this. I don't fall in love and I don't do relationships."
"Neither do I." This shocked the girl.
"And I'm not looking for a one night stand right now." The girl assumed. The boy shook his head, smiling slightly.
"I wouldn't do that to you."
"Then what do you want from me?" The girl asked getting annoyed.
"I like you."
"No."
"Yes."
"Please don't." The girl begged. The boy moved closer to her and she couldn't seem to push him away this time. He placed a hand on her cheek.
"Do you like me?" The boy whispered. The girl shook her head but the tears that pooled in her eyes said otherwise.
"I'm not going to hurt you." The boy said, their faces getting closer. "Just don't hurt me, okay?"
"Im scared." The girl whispered back, tears running down her face. Their faces were inches away from each other now.
"So am I." was the last thing he said before they both pressed their lips together. His lips tasted like vanilla. Her arms roped around his neck and their lips moved together. The boys hands threaded through her hair. They pulled away yet the girls arms still wrapped around his neck, their faces still close, their breaths merging together.
"We'll look after each other." The boy told the girl in a low voice. The girl nodded.
"Let's make a promise; we won't hurt each other."
"Promise."
