The boy came in the next day too. They didn't exchange words as he sat down in the chair next to her. The girl supposed he understood that she just wanted to be read. He didn't do anything- she assumed he didn't take a warm liking to books, he just sat there. It wasn't awkward, they were just...together. The girl was appreciative of this because she didn't do love, nor did she do relationships or even friendships- at least not properly and she avoided love entirely. The girl believed that love was a trap, an emotion devoted to fools, because as soon as you become comfortable with someone, whether they want to or not, they leave.
After about an hour, the boy decided to speak up.
"What's your name?" The girl jumped when he spoke up, it seemed as though she forgot she was in a bookshop.
"Why?" The boys eyebrows pulled together in confusion.
"Because I want to get to know you." She shook her head.
"No."
"What?"
"I don't want to get to know each other."
"Oh." Is all the boy said before standing up and leaving. The girl didn't mean to be so sharp and regret filled her the second he left. She thought about going after the boy but decided against it- it was for the best.
