Yeah, yeah, I lied to you all, I didn't post 2 chapters in a row so my apologies. I just haven't had all that much time recently.. but whatever, let's get on with it!

Just a quick thing.. pay attention to detail, who knows? May come in handy later on ;)

The man began the story:

'It all happened quite a long time ago, long enough for me to be almost sure I wouldn't have to touch that part of the past ever again. I remember it clearly, it was at the time this place was full of people looking for presents for their kids our new-borns. A time where they still cared about other things than the gold itself.

I was just starting to close up the shop when a woman came running and begged for me to allow her to come in she didn't speak but she kept pointing to the inside, for some reason, I didn't even think about it and just allowed her to do so, something about her was sending me a really strange vibe, she looked human, but she didn't feel  like it.

She was wearing a black cape, and so I wasn't able to see her face, which added to her mysterious facade. The weird thing I noticed, yet, for whatever reason, didn't immediatly think much of it, was that the hood of the cape seemed to be sitting not on her head but on something above it, like some kind of hat.

There was this awkward silence between us, as she let herself sit of the floor and rest, she looked exhausted. I didn't know what to do, I couldn't let her stay here, whatever, I didn't have space! I was about to offer her something to eat so she could leave but she beat me to it. She started talking. Her voice was calm, a bit raspy at some times but it was like no voice I had ever heard before. Despite her calm tone, what she said didn't calm me down at all, for contrary. I never forgot what she said:

"Sir, I have no time to explain, sir. I have no choice, but to do what I'm about to do, but I can't just leave it, please, sir, I need something, something to serve as lead. Please! I know you are a man of great doing, I know you create music out of pure gold, and that you also heal it."

She paused pondering over what to say next. I had no clue whatsoever of what she was talking about, she sounded confused, but also seemed to know what she was saying. She then continued:

'This necklace, this is all I have, sir, do you think you can create music inside it?'

'Create music? You mean make a music box inside of it?' I asked, a bit confused.

'What you say, sir, only you know what to do, think you can do it?'

'It's my job.. but we are out of working hours can't it wait a little longer?'

'It must be done today, sir, please, right now, as quick as you may!'

'It's not that easy, I need a-'

'A music sheet? I predicted so, I have one right here, so can you? Sir? Please?'

I muttered something similar to "yes", grabbed her two objects and walked straight into the forge. At this point I just wanted her to leave.

'How quick do you think you can be, sir?'

'Two hours, if I use an old second-hand box, we used to make them smaller, I think it could fit.'

'Whatever you say, sir.'

And so, exactly 2 hours later, no more, no less, my quickest work ever was finished. The song she had me put in it, was like no other. It was.. well.. music.. to my ears. I felt safe listening to it. Like everything was going to be just fine.'

She couldn't stop thinking me, she came close to me and said things like "I was her saviour" "It will now know the way". And it was then I caught a glimpse of her face, and it was a view that still haunts me whenever I close my eyes - her face was pure white, not in a "pale" way, it was pure snow and so were her lips, even if you could barely see the diference, and her eyes... they were pure black.

She didn't show signs of wanting to move (so much for being on a hurry), so I decided to do what I tried to do earlier - Offer her some food, I made my way to the kitchen to get it and heard a loud "bang", a whisper and then something popping, I turned my back, and she wasn't there anymore. The door lied open, banging against the walls because of the wind'

The man caught his breath and finished.

'I've felt something different inside. Besides my few costumers, I did lose many of them after it, for some reason, I never allowed any visitors, until you four.. or five. Something about you.. gives me the same yet opposite kind of feeling that woman gave me' He said looking at the young pirate.

They just didn't know what to say, no one did, they thanked the him and left the house, once again pushed by the man, who closed the door as soon as they left without even saying goodbye. What a mood killer.

The first person to break the silence was Alex.

'It's kind of obvious at this point..' He saw the others confused faces and said 'That woman.. she well... she either knew your mother, or she.. uh.. is her..'

'I know but.. "not human"? Wouldn't that also make me..'

She was interrupted be Gene's agressive throat clearing.

'Think better about it. If you actually tie all the facts together..'

'Get to the point.' The two girls said at the same time, as Gene blushed and Alex giggled.

'Think, who do we know with a pale face, black eyes and something  on top of her head?'

Everyone knew the answer but no one wanted to say it, as they looked at each other, preoccupied.

Babacara.

(END OF CHAPTER 5)

Ayyy it's done! I don't want to write the word 'sir' ever again lmao.

This one was REALLY hard to write because I had to be careful, some of the details were used right at the end but others are only used much, much later, and I was scared I might have forgotten something. But it's here!

I don't have anything else to say now so.. yah!

(Also the chapter names? Geddit? As in gold rush but it's cold and.. ok bye)

~ Thanks for reading, see you on the next chapter!
