THOR'S POV
All this time, I thought she was dead. We all thought she was dead.
But he knew, all along, that she wasn't.
It still didn't seem to have stopped him from going mad.
I walk down the corridor, swinging the hammer around my hand as I head towards the cell: if Alina Thornwell really is Vor, then she will know something that only she and I know; something that Loki can't have just planted into a random Midgardian's head, to make them believe that they are Vor.
After all, it is something I expect of him: they were as close as friends could get, and he was completely lost without her. How do we know that he hasn't just seen Alina, linked her to Vor because they look very similar, and given Alina the memories of Vor so that he would have his friend back? Even I noticed the similarities between them, as soon as I saw her in the airplane.
As I emerge from the corridor and into the large room, holding Loki's cell in the centre, I notice Vor (or Alina, whoever this girl may turn out to be), leaving out of the other door. I run towards her, shouting out "Miss Alina!" because I am still not entirely sure of who she is. She turns around, and a large smile fills her face as we near each other. "Thor!" she shouts back, running up to me and embracing me in a hug; not a normal hug, but the same warrior's greeting that every Asgardian warrior seems to pass on to their friends. She certainly looks like Vor; even more so now, than she did before.
Whereas Alina's hair was shoulder-length, straight and very dark brown, this girl's is wavy, down to her waist and the colour of a raven; so black that it seems almost purple or blue.
Just like Vor's was.
Alina's eyes were brown too, but her's are darker, and larger; standing out like beacons in her pale face. They seem to hide a multitude of emotions; raging storms lie behind those eyes. And Vor was always famous for her rage; her first mistake being nearly destroying a Midgardian town with a mere childhood tantrum, at the age of seven.
She certainly looks like Vor.
"Vor, Alina, whoever you are, I need to ask you a few questions, just before we go back to the agents." I tell her, stepping forwards a little as a puzzled look makes its way onto her face. "Why, Thor, I'm back! Apparently, everyone thinks I'm dead. But I'm not, I'm here!" she says, but I stop her, interrupting.
"Vor, I need to check that you are real. I know that sounds insane, but I don't know if Loki has just planted Vor's memories into Alina Thornwell's mind, because he wants his friend back, or whether you really are Vor." I try to reason with her, and she sighs a little, staring at the floor "So I'm going to ask you one thing."
"And what's that?" she asks, walking slowly down the corridor, myself taking small steps beside her - after all, she is a lot shorter than me. "Tell me something that only you and I know." I challenge, smiling down at her. Almost instantly, her lips curve into a trademark smile, one that accompanied Lady Vor Arandoldottir after every single battle she won (and that was many) and she looks up at me, eyes narrowed in a way that almost reminds me of Loki. "Well, that's simple. We know the one thing that will bring about the downfall of Lady Sigyn."
It's her. She was alive all this time. I can't believe it.
"Vor! It is you!" I shout, throwing my arms around her as she laughs, hugging me back.
"Yes, Thor, it's me. I may have spent the last seven years as a Midgardian, but I only did that because your brother saved my life."
Wait. Loki....saved her?
"What do you mean?" I say, my laugh dying down as we stop walking for a minute. She takes a deep breath, scratching the back of her neck, before she begins "Lady Sigyn was being taught magic. And she thought that I was the perfect target for her latest skills; magic that proved fatal to anybody who managed to get in the way. We battled it out at the Bifrost gate, and, while Heimdall sent for the All-Father, Loki opened the Bifrost and sent me to Midgard, to help me get away. My memories were erased, and I fell from the sky looking like a completely different person: a teenager in Midgard clothes, who was captured, a few days later, by the agents of SHIELD. I became an agent, worked for them for a while, got fired and came straight back four years later. And the reason for my return was Loki himself. Just his luck; he spent seven years searching for me and I walked straight back into him as soon as he'd practically given up." she looks up, eyes full of a pain that I don't think even I could ever understand, and Loki and I are brothers. But nothing could ever come between my brother and Lady Vor, not even her father, Lord Arandol; who wanted his daughters to marry well and become ladies of high status families. Instead, both of them ended up on the battlefield; two sisters more skilled with swords than stitching.
"He's not how I remember him, Thor. He's different." she continues, her voice cold and hard, but quiet too "What happened? What gave him this thirst for power? For a throne?" she turns, walking away as her voice gets louder and louder, before she stops again "What changed, Thor?"
I sigh, walking up behind her and rest a hand on her shoulder. "The past seven years have been extremely difficult for him. And, only last year, we both found out something life changing. Loki is not my brother; well, not my real one, anyway. He was stolen from Jotunheim as a small child. A frost giant." She gasps and spins around on her heels, her eyes wide as she looks up at me. "No, he can't be." her voice is barely a whisper, as if she can't even believe it herself.
"It's true, Vor. He found it difficult to cope with; let the frost giants into Asgard just so he could kill Laufey before father's eyes: to prove himself as worthy of the throne, I believe. But father didn't want him, still. And so, after a battle similar, I imagine, to the one conducted by yourself and Lady Sigyn, followed, between the two of us. Loki fell from the Bifrost and disappeared into an abyss. Only to resurface a year later, with an army of chitauri and an interesting agenda." I sigh to myself as we continue walking, Vor silent by my side as we approach the control room once more.
Only something seems to have changed. As soon as we enter the room, Vor is pulled away by some of the other agents, who handcuff her and try to take her away. Almost immediately, I notice a red shine glint across Vor's eyes, and I know what is going to happen.
"Everyone get down!" I shout, diving under a table myself. Only a few people listen to me, and then the rest are hit by the full force of Vor's rage; a shockwave of red that takes out a few computer screens and agents in its wake, spilling shattered glass across the floor. "Vor! Stop!" I shout, sprinting over to Vor and the two agents with her before it can happen again.
"Why should I? They're trying to arrest one of their own agents!" she shouts back, the lingering rage still laced through her voice: she is still dangerous. "Listen to me." I address the agents holding her "You release her, or that happens again. Would you rather have her cause destruction to your....strange flying vehicle...or make a truce and let her go. She is, after all, your own agent." The two men reluctantly unlock the cuffs and Vor storms off towards the screen, long hair flying out behind her. As soon as she steps up to the table, everyone looks around, confused expressions plaguing every face. "Alina, did you just dye your hair and get extensions? And curl it? Because it looks different to what it was about half an hour ago." asks agent Maria Hill, warily stepping towards Vor. She sighs and holds her hands up "Okay, guys, we need to clear some things up before you all start thinking I'm a Loki minion." she shouts, waiting for everybody to pay attention before he continues "Basically, I'm not from around here, I am actually from Asgard. Thor can prove it, he asked me something that only him and myself know the answer to, and I got it right, so I'm obviously not being controlled by Loki. Secondly, despite the fact that, yes, I did hug Loki in that cell and yes, you probably all saw it, it doesn't mean that I'm on his side. My name is Lady Vor Arandoldottir, and Loki saved my life once, so I owe it to him."
"I wish you were still oblivious, Vor." suddenly every head turns away from Vor, and towards the screen - including Vor herself: Loki is standing right up against the glass, palms to the clear surface, eyes to the floor.
She moves to, walking straight up to the screen, and presses a button on a unit by the side of it, and speaks into a microphone. "It was your choice Loki, you didn't have to tell me." she says "But I know that you found it hard not to. Either way, what on earth are you talking about?"
Instead of giving her a straight answer, he simply looks up, eyes meeting the camera that must be in the corner of his cell, and says "I'm sorry Vor. I hope that, one day, you might be able to forgive me."
"Loki, what the hell is going o-" she begins, but she doesn't get to finish, because the screen cuts out, and the microphone starts to buzz.
And then the world around us explodes.
NOTE: Hey :) You like the Thor POV chapter? Hope you did :) I just needed somebody who wasn't Alina/Vor to explain the story of Vor before this whole battle on the helicarrier happens :) Hope you liked it ~ Sky
