Look into the sky and what do you see
Stars shining as bright as they can be
Those beacons so far in the sky
Aren't even there, a simple lie
A million stars can die in a day
Yet we see them shimmering while we lay
The light takes awhile to reach us here on the ground
Yet this relates to us even while we're earthbound
People pass by us day by day
They smile, they laugh, they're okay
But we are like the stars and I'll tell you why
Cause when our souls die out we decide to lie
We die inside but our light still shines bright
Desperately hiding that eternal night
Hollow as they might be their light reaches out
To inspire those whose light resists to burnout
My light died long ago and I never minded that
Until the day I saw you and I wanted it back
Used to such darkness that engulfs my soul
I just try to resist our magnetic pull
Just keep moving forward, that's the only thing to do
Though I could never ignore a star as bright as you
Not knowing what causes such sparks to come back to life
I'll simply lay back and get lost in the stars tonight
