We met, like others often do
When we were teens, nothing new
She was young and adventurous, the perfect girl
Me, I was shy as anything, she took me for a whirl
Life went on, as it often does, we grew apart
We found ourselves again, a fresh new start
For years we lived, laughed, and loved each other
Everything seemed to be going so perfect, so well
Great news came to us, a baby boy along the way

One day I fell asleep and didn't wake up for weeks
When I did she was there, her smile shined
We knew our time was running out
We knew I would pass soon, no doubt
The doctor said there's a experimental surgery
It was our only chance what were we to say
We accepted the offer for this chance of life
Though we knew what our ending would become
All day we talked about our past, present, and future
She held me hand as we laughed, cried, and loved
She was very quiet when the doctors came for me
I held her close and told her that it was meant to be
When I die, my love, I will not be far
Just look up into the sky, where ever you are
I'll be there with you and our son
We'll see each other again in the long run
Go ahead and rest, when you wake
I'll be right next to you, asleep or awake
Do not weep for you filled my days with love
It's always been you who I think the world of
