Hyemi
"Where's mother?" I asked my little sister when I entered my home.
"I don't know. I just got home. Why?"
"She isn't in the kitchen or the living room." I furrowed my brows.
"You didn't check her bedroom?" She put her hands on her hips.
"Mother shouldn't be in her bed at this time unless she-"
My eyes widened.
"What? What happened?" My sister looked at me weirdly.
I didn't answer her.
I ran across the creaky floor and to my mother's room.
I opened the door, frantically. "Mother!"
There she lie.
On the floor.
Her small and dangerously skinny body.
"Haeun! HAEUN!" I screamed my sister's name. "HAEUN!"
"WHAT!?"
"Call the ambulance! Mother's about to die!"

I exited the hospital, head down, spirit low.
I almost failed my duty of helping my mother become well.
My poor mother almost died before she could do what she wanted to most.
See me succeed.
I'm back to where I started.
With no money.
All the money I earned for years went to the hospital bill and all the procedures.
At least my mother is still alive.
And somewhat well.
Haeun grips my hand and leans against my arm.
"Do you think she'll be alright?" She asks, pouting.
I sighed. "All we can do is hope."
We walked home since we couldn't afford the bus or a taxi.
It was late at night when we finally arrived. Our feet were sore.
"You don't have to take care of me anymore, Hyemi." She gives me a weak smile.
"You're my little sister. Of course, I have to take care of you." I ruffle her hair.
"But I'm 12 now. I can manage myself. I'll clean the house up and you go to sleep, ok?"
I looked at her pleading eyes and I couldn't deny."Thank you." I pulled her into a hug.
I went to my floor, fell on my mattress, and was knocked out in a second.
I already know....every night....that I probably won't get to sleep much the next day.

It may be the weekend, but I still am the busiest.
I woke up at 7am to make Haeun some breakfast.
After that, I prepared for my first job of today.
"Haeun! I'm off to work! Lock the door!" I called and closed the door.
I ran to the city where the small café was at. I was sweating when I arrived, but I always am, so there's no question.
I entered the shop and went to the back to drop off my stuff.
