Jake smiled. "Today will be a day where you don't have to worry about anything but you. No parents, no bre. Nothing bad." I gave him an unsure smile.
"Okay okay. Where are we going?" I asked again. "Somewhere." I groaned. "Why won't you just tell me?"
"Because that would ruin the surprise" he grinned I sighed in defeat.
"Okay, but we can't be out too long. My uncle will be here soon." He gave me a confident look. "Don't worry. We'll be back justttt in time"
I sat quietly in the car as jake drove us. I jumped as my phone unexpectedly started to ring. Without looking at the caller ID I answerd thinking it was my uncle Sam.
"Hey, did you get into town already?"
"I never left?" Bre said in a confused tone. Oh.
"Oh, I thought you were my uncle sam, did you need somthing?"
"Uhm, well I just wanted to say happy 16th birthday."
"Thank you" I said dryly.
"Do you think we could meet up later and talk?" She asked.
"Maybe, my uncle has plans but I'll check in with you after."
"Okay." After that we hung up.
"Was that bre??" Jake asked from beside me.
"Yup." I said popping then p.
"What'd she want?" He asked.
"I guess she wants to talk to me later." He smiled.
"I think she wants to apologize." I looked at him a bit unsure.
"Okay, but. I don't know. I just feel like she can't just stop talking to me like that, and decide when we get to make up." He pursed his lips in thought. "You're right. But just talk to her anyway. Hear her out."
I looked up to see that jake had taken me to a book store, he knew that I adored reading. I smiled exitedly.
"You didn't have to"
"but I wanted to." He said as we walked into the store.
"Go ahead and pick out how ever many books you would like, and I'll pay for them."
I nodded and began to search around the store. I will not get no more than three books I told myself, I'd feel bad if I spent too much of his money. I went up and down each row looking and reviewing all of the books, looking for books I've been wanting to read.
I looked down in guilt. I had six books, and books weren't cheap. "Im sorry." I frowned. Jake looked at me confused. "Why are you sorry? " I bit my lip, "I only planned on getting no more than three books, I didn't want you to spend to much on me." He just chuckled. "Oh shut up. It's your day, If there was anyone that I'd want to spend all of my money on, it'd be you." I smiled and the ride home was silence.
I jumped into his arms. "I missed you so much." "I missed you too sweetie." I finally let go of my uncle sam to look up at him, I haven't seen him for at least three years. "Listen we don't have to much time, so I'll take you and your friend out to lunch, but then I'll have to be on my way, I have to get back into town by tomorrow for work. I took the day off today." I frowned but nodded in understandment. "Oh!" He said shuffling in his pockets as if he had forgotten everything. "Because I've I haven't seen you for so long, and your parents haven't seemed to be around lately. And turning sixteen is a very special occasion " I stared at the money. "Uh, thanks. But how much is it?" He sat in thought for a few seconds. "I think it's around 800. I planned on giving you more. But unfortunately I couldn't." He looked disappointed. "No no no." I spat out. "This is more than I could have asked for." He smiled. "Alright where do you want to eat??"
I sat back in my chair and groaned in satisfaction. "I think I may have eatin so much that I may explode." "Me too." Jake agreed. "Me three." My uncle sam followed and we chuckled. After he drove us home and said his goodbyes he promised another visit soon. I pulled out my phone remembering that breanna had wanted to talk. "Hello?" She answerd. "Hey, I'm back at Jakes if you wanna stop by and talk now." "You're still at jakes?" She asked. "Yeah long story. I'll explain later." I sighed. "Be there soon." She said in a hurried tone.
I heard a knock on the door and knowing that it was breanna I opened the door. "Hey." She sad, I could tell that she felt awkward. I opened the door wider so she could enter jakes house. "What did you want to talk about?" "Can we talk in private somwhere?" "Sure, follow me." I said as I led her to the guest bedroom that had been set up for me. "So what's up?" I asked. Not completely willing to open up and forgive her right away. She looked at me with a sad expression. "I'm sorry. When I had heard that jake and Diana had split, I thought taht she had broken up with him because of you. I wasn't aware that he realised he didn't want her and broke up with her." I shrugged. "I'm sorry." She repeated. "It's fine. It's just, I can't seem to understand why you didn't just talk to me about it if it had botherd you so much bre." She gave a small smile at the nick name but it dissappeard as quickly as it had came. "I don't know, I guess I was just so angry at the fact that I thought he was hurting badly because you over stepped boundaries and punched Diana." "Well, I guesssss I forgive you." I exaggerated and help my hands open for a hug.
Her eyes widened as she ate a gummy worm. "So, they haven't texted or called yet??" I frowned. "No.. tomorrow I'll be going into the police to let then know. But I have no idea what to expect." She smiled at me reassuringly. "I'm sure you'll be okay, everything will turn out the way it's supposed to be." She picked up her phone and the time popped up. "Shit." The spit. "What's wrong??" I asked. "Mom's gunna kill me, I was supposed to be home by dinner." Rambled as she grabbed all of her stuff. "Good luck." I chuckled as she ran out. "Love you." She yelled, and I said it in return. I fell back onto the bed and rubbed my eyes. It's been a long day. The bed shifted and I tuned to my side to see jake sitting beside me. "So, you and bre are good now?" I gave him a cheeky smile. "Yup, we're good great golden." I felt him wrap an arm around me. "Good, let's take a nap." I chuckled. "Sounds like a plan."
I blinked my eyes open as I heard jakes mom yelling. "You guys. Dinner time, get in the kitchen now." I shook jake but he just tightened his grip on me. I felt hopeless, when suddenly I made a brave move to bite him. He squeeled in pain and I giggled. "What was that for??" He moaned rubbing his arm. "Your mom is calling us for dinner, now get up before she kills us." He shot up quickly, we both know that his mom has no patience when it comes to waiting on us for dinner.
She glared us when we sat at the table. "I'm sorryyyyyy. We were taking a nap." She rolled her eyes but smiled. "Alright, well dish up." Jake and I quickly assembled our plates and ate. If there was somthing that we both loved, it was eating. When we were both done we decided to make our way to his room and lay in bed as we talked. "Are you nervous about tomorrow?" He asked. I paused, I almost forgot. I had to go to the police tomorrow. I sighed, " a little, yeah. I don't know what's going to happen. What if my parents never come back jake, what if they died or somthing on there way to the store and no one just botherd to let me know? What if someone murder them? There are so many timings that could have happened." I whispers as if it had been a secret. All my thoughts had began to get to me and before I realized it I was crying. Jake just enveloped me in his arms. "Everything will be okay, everything will turn out the way it's supposed to. And I'll be here for you every step of the way sage. I promise you that." He whispers back as he wiped a tear.
"Thank you." I said in a hushed tone. "For what?" He asked. "For everything. For taking care of me, taking me in, making sure I was okay. Even if I had caused problems with you and your girlfriend. Thank you." He smiled. "I'd do anything for my best friend." For some reason that statement had hurt my feelings although it shouldn't have. I nodded my my head and he kissed my cheek. "You should get some sleep, all this stress must be tiring you out." "Okay, but will you sleep with me?" I asked. "Of course."
