"Missing?" The officer looked at jake and I weirdly and we nodded. "You're trying to tell me that two grown adults are missing? " He repeated. "Yes, I've texted, called and waited and I've heard nothing from them" I answerd. "Honey, I don't think that your parents would randomly go missing. I'm afraid I'm going to have to be honest with you, but from what you've told me I'm afraid that they've left you." I nodded, a tear falling down my cheek. Jake frowned and wiped it off.
After a few minutes of gathering myself together, I decided to speak. "So, what's going to happen with me?" The officer sat in thought. "Well, do you have any other guardians here?" I sighed. "No." He cleared his throat. "Are there any adults that would be willing to take custody of you?" I looked to jake and bit my lip. He nodded, "yes, I do." The officer nodded. "Alright, I'm afraid to tell you that until an adult can get custody of you, you will be put in a temperary foster home."
I looked at the officer in shock. "Seriously?? I can't just stay with someone until it goes through??" "I'm afraid not ma'am" I shook my head, Unable to comprehend what I had just been told. Was this really happening? "When will she have to be put into the foster home, and how long will she be there?" Jake asked. "Well, from what normally happens she could be put In a foster home by Wednesday, next week. And she may be in the foster home anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending how quickly things go through." We both nodded our heads.
"Oh my. Don't worry honey. I'll take care of you. I promise. I'll go by the court and find out everything I need to know about getting custody of you, alright?" I nodded, trusting jakes mom. She's always been a second mom to me. "The officer said I'd have to go to a foster home for a while, before you get custody of me." She nodded. "I figured. I'll try to do things as quickly as I can." She kissed the top of my head. I went to jakes room and plopped on his bed next to him. "Jake I'm scared." He frowned and pulled me into his arms. "I don't blame you sage. But things will be okay. Maybe you'll even make friends with the other foster kids. And you don't have to be with them for too long, and maybe you'll get cool foster parents that will let you come here all the time." I smiled and nodded. "You've always known just what to say." He just grinned at me, there were no words that had been needed to be said.
I yawned and stretched as I looked ahead to see Jakes TV playing late night shows. I looked to my right to see him snoring. I couldn't help but smile at how cute he looked. I rolled out of bed and found my way to my room. I got dressed into my pajamas as quickly as I could, I was extremely tired. And after the news I got today, it seemed to stress me out which made me a bit tired. I honestly couldn't help it.

I blinked, and as my vision unblurrd I looked up to see jake hovering over me with a goofy grin. "It's about time" he chuckled. "It's nearly 2 pm. Oh, and bre wants to know if all of us can hang out today." "Seriously ?? 2 pm??" I grunted as I pushed jake.off of me and scrambled to get off the bed. "Yup, 2pm" he laughed at me, amused. "Oh shut up" I threw my shoe at him. I took my hair and wrapped it in a bun and looked in my closet for a T shirt, after I grabbed a pair of leggings, leaving jake sitting on my bed I went to.the bathroom to get ready for the day I came out to see him still on my bed. He scanned my outfit. "Nice choice." He complimented. I gave him a thumbs up as I made my way to my makeup.
Jake sighed. "You know, you don't need that stuff." He told me as I finished my mascara. I rolled my eyes. "Jake, how many times do I need to tell you? I do not do it for you. I do not do it for anyone I don't do it because I'm insecure, and I sure as hell don't do it because I want to look pretty, I do it because it's an interest and I like it, I do it for me and me only." I turned to see him mouthing my every word. I laughed and punched him in the shoulder. "I know I say it alot and you've clearly heard me well everytime, so why continue to tell me that I don't need it everytime I wear it?"
He pursed his lips. "I tell you everytime because I think you're beautiful with and with out. And as much as you don't want to say it, I know that a very small part of you, as small as it may be, feels like you dont look as pretty with out it. And I don't tell you because I want you to take it off, I say it as a reminder that you're beautiful. I smiled. "Thanks jake." He nodded. "You're welcome sage, now let's go" I stood up and we both went into the kitchen. I grabbed an apple and as I began to munch on it jake and I passed jakes mom on our way out. "And where do you two think you're going?" I swallowed my bite, "Bre wanted to hang out with us today so we're just walking down to the park or somthing. Is there a time you want us home?" She nodded. "Okay, be home by 4, and if you can't make it by then you better be here by dinner." "Okay" Jake and I said in unison.

"A foster home??? Seriously?" Bre exclaimed. "Yup." I said popping the p. She frowned. "There's nothing else you guys can do about it?" Jake spoke up, "Nope. Due to the fact that she's underage she has to be there for a bit. Because according to the 'law' they don't know if my home is a stable and fit home for her to live in" "oh." Was all bre said, as if she didn't know what else to say. "Yeah, but it shouldn't be for too long jakes mom said she'll try to get the papers and everything done as soon as she can." I shrugged. "That's good" Bre smiled. "Enough serious talk, let's enjoy ourselves." I chuckled.
