Chapter 3:
Kai's POV
I hummed along the sidewalk as I walked home, taking my time, I never really thought that she would agree! I'm so excited! Hopefully she wouldn't change any plans. I jogged toward my house and unlocked the door with my key. I stopped halfway from opening the door. 'Uh oh' I say. It had completely slipped my mind that my father came home from work at 8:54 and gets pissed if I'm not home. I slowly crept into the living room and hung my coat.
I was about to walk into the kitchen when I hear footsteps gets lorded and louder down the stairs. I looked around, trying to find a place to hide. My head was filled with thoughts of what he's going to do to me. As I turn my head back to its original position, giving up on trying to find a place to hide, I see his muscular frame tower over me.
"Where have you been?" He slurred. 'Dang it he's drunk' I thought. "Um.. I was with Summer." I said. "Oh that ugly brown haired girl? Why do you always hang out with her?" He pushes me into the wall, leaving a dent in the hard white material. I let out a sob. "Crying I see? Why don't you grow up and be a man?" He says as he throws my phone against the wall. Thank god it didn't break.
He slaps me on each cheek, hitting one harder than the other leaving a purple bruise on each one. Then he punches me hard enough to make me fall on the ground and kicks me repeatedly until he gets tired, which is after about a minute or so. "Wish I could just kill you and get it over with." He mumbles, thinking I couldn't hear.
He trudges into the bathroom as I go up to my room and lock the door. Finally I could do my real passion, art. I get out a blank canvas, paints, pencils, crayons, markers, and my phone and earbuds so I can listen to music while I paint. I sketch a landscape of the beach and press play on my screen. My favorite song 'Here Comes The Sun' starts to play. I sway my head as I outline my master piece with a thin black marker and decide that today has been a long day, and that I needed to take a rest.
I take out my phone, and notice than even though my phone didn't break, it still had a few cracks here and there. I don't mind though. At least I have a phone right? I start to text Summer and see what she's doing.
