"You and Hamilton seem to be becoming quite close." Lafayette said over drinks at the local bar one month later.

"I let him sleep in my house a few times, and sometimes he comes over and eats my food. We're not exactly the closest." Eacker replied.

"But you have the potential!" Lafayette argued, pointing at Eacker as he took a sip of his beer.

"Shush. We're just making amends or whatever. We're not best friends forever or anything." Eacker said "Now if you'll excuse me, I promised Hamilton I would make him dinner if he read to me."

"Ha! You're practically a married couple already!" Lafayette yelled as Eacker stood up to leave.

Eacker flipped him off as he left.

"I can't believe they said that!" Hamilton exclaimed as he read out loud an article someone had wrote about how bad of a general and president George Washington had apparently been.

"Who allowed that to even be published?" Eacker asked, stirring the pot of soup on the stove "You can't just openly hate on George Washington."

"Well, you openly hated on my pops..." Hamilton muttered.

"That was different. I was just supporting Aaron Burr, they're just hating on Washington for no reason." Eacker said, pouring some of the soup into two bowls.

Hamilton shrugged. "I don't have a problem with Burr, in fact, I'm good friends with his daughter, but you criticised my pops just to make Burr sound good."

"Look, Hamilton, that was two years ago, and I'm sorry for what I said, but I bet you would have dragged Burr through the mud if you had to, to save your dad's legacy or whatever." He set down the bowls of soup on the kitchen Hamilton was sitting at, and lifted Hamilton's chin so they made eye contact "Plus, if I hadn't done that, I would have never met you."

Eacker as aware they were both blushing. Hamilton's eyes fluttered close, and Eacker was leaning in......

"Are you two making out?!" Lafayette yelled from the doorway, making Eacker and Hamilton jump apart.

"No! No! No! I just had something in my eye, and he was seeing if he could get it out!" Hamilton stammered, waving his hands and blushing madly.

"Okay, whatever you say." Theodosia Burr, said appearing from behind Lafayette. Frances Laurens followed her.

"Good thing I made extra soup." Eacker said as Hamilton went to hug the two girls.

The night passed quickly, the five of them talking about all sorts of things before they finally had to leave.

Laurens, who looked oddly similar to Hamilton, and Burr went outside, despite the cold November weather as Lafayette ran to the bathroom and Hamilton swallowed the last bit of soup.

"Why are you so angry at me today?" Eacker ask quietly as Hamilton wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

"You don't know?" Hamilton asked, walking towards the door.

"Know what?"

"What today is?"

"What's today?"

"Two years ago today, you shot and almost killed me. Doesn't that mean anything to you?" Hamilton asked. He escaped out the door before Eacker could respond.

"Damn." Lafayette said, coming back into the kitchen.

"Jeez, he's acting like it's our marriage anniversary or something." Eacker said, leaning against the counter.

"He kinda has a right to be like that." Lafayette said.

Eacker raised an eyebrow.

"Well, this is the anniversary of your fates being intertwined and all that mystical stuff. And judging from the scene we walked in on, you care about each other, and the date should be important to you." Lafayette explained.

"So what do I do to apologize?" Eacker asked, feeling kind of shitty.

"Something special. Make it count." Was all Lafayette said as he left the house after his friends.
