I put a jacket on Taylor and kissed her head. "Cmon. I'm gonna be late to class." I said and picked my one year old up. I balanced her on my hip and left my small apartment. I dropped her at my moms house and drove to the campus.

My name is Tyler Joseph. I'm 21 and trying to get my degree in English Lit. It's my third year, second semester, and I'm already late to my 9 o'clock class. Taylor didn't want to get up and cooperate this morning. 'Where's her mom?,' you're probably thinking. She is in prison for something. Probably not paying child support. She was deemed an unfit mother so Taylor is mine. Anyways. Class time

I ran to the building and went to my class. I opened the door and walked in quietly. I took a seat in the back and started taking notes. The professor gave me a look and I sunk into my seat. He was so hot. The class lasted two hours and I stayed after. I walked down after everyone left with my bag.

"Not a good first impression." Was the first thing he said.

"I know, Professor Dun. I just-"

"I don't wanna hear how you forgot and slept in. I don't deal with excuses." He said as he organised papers, not even looking at me.

"I didn't do either of those. I have a kid." He stopped moving papers and looked at me. "She's one. Her mom is in jail and I have to take care of her."

"Who's watching her now?"

"My mom. She's trying to help me as much as possible. I know you don't care about my personal life but-"

"No. I find it interesting the things my students go through. I can try and help you as much as possible Mr?"

"Joseph. Tyler Joseph." I shook his hand and he smiled at me. He leaned against his desk and grabbed his note pad.

"Text me if you need help or miss something. I don't have a kid, but I have plenty of friends who do. I know they are a lot. Especially when they are young."

"Thank you so much, Mr. Dun."

"Call me Josh. Mr. makes me sound old. I'm only 26." I smiled and bit my lip a little.

"Thanks Josh." I took the paper. "I have to get to my next class. Thank you again."

"It's my job." I smiled at him one last time and left, going to my next lecture. I picked Taylor up and went home. I made dinner, which was mac and cheese, and started studying.

"Daddy." Taylor said and tugged on my shirt. I looked down at her. She put her hands by her head, signalling she wants to sleep. I grabbed a book and picked her up, taking her to our room. I put her in her crib and leaned down, kissing her head.

I read the story and put the blanket over her. I smiled down at her as she slept. I went back to the living room and continued studying. I went to sleep around one, only to be woken up at two because Taylor was crying. I picked her up and bounced her on my hip.

"Daddy's here. It's okay. I got you princess." She calmed down and clung to me. She had a nightmare so I let her sleep with me.

-

"Baby, you have to go. Daddy's gonna be late for class again." Granted, it was only Josh's class today. But I can't bring my kid to class.

"No." She said and hugged my leg. I called Josh's number and he picked up.

"Hello?"

"Hey. It's Tyler. I don't think I'll be able to come today because Taylor had a nightmare and won't let me leave her at my moms."

"Bring her with you. I won't mind."

"Really?"

"Why not? I love kids."

"Thank you so much." I said as buckled her in, letting him hang up. I got in the car and drove to class. Taylor was clinging to me. Literally. I can't put her down.

I walked into the class and people looked at me funny. Josh came over and Taylor smiled at him. "Say hi to Mr. Dun, Taylor." She got all smiley and used one hand to grab his tie.

"Daddy." She muttered. Josh laughed and smiled.

"That's all she says. And no. She loves that one."

"She's adorable, Tyler." Josh said.

"Thanks." I blushed and he looked at his watch.

"I have to go get set up." I nodded and sat at the table. I took out my notebook and recorder.

I turned it on as he started his lecture and decided I would go back and take notes. Taylor just kinda sat there as we learned. I tried to keep her occupied. Josh was walking around as she got restless. He came near me and she made grabby hands at him. He picked her up and continued lecturing. She was occupied with his purple tie as he walked and talked.

I don't think he minded holding her and walking with her. It was so nice of him and he looked adorable with her. "Okay guys. Read chapter one for the test on Friday. It has all the answers. I will be sending an email with these slides. Read them. Study them. Class dismissed." Everyone started packing up and he came over.

"Thank you." I said and smiled.

"No problem. She's a good girl."

"Sometimes." I replied and he laughed.

"You can bring her anytime. I feel like they pay more attention when I have a toddler on my hip." I laughed a little and grabbed my bag. I put it on.

"Cmon Taylor. Let's go home."

"No."

"But Joshy needs to work." I said and she grabbed his shirt.

"No."

"Taylor." I said firmly.

"Joshy." Josh laughed and smiled at me.

"I think she likes me."

"She likes bright colours. With the hair and tie."

"It's okay. Cmon." I followed him down as he grabbed his brief case. He carried her out and to my car. "You gotta go with Tyler now. Okay?"

She pouted but nodded. "Joshy."

She's gonna be the death of me.
