(Jongin)

I'm alone in the night. There's not a single person on the street. Not even a single rat scavenging for food. It's absolute silence, except for the scuffing sound my shoes make as I round the alley corner.

I pull out my phone and check the location. The backdoor has a number above it. 9.

I swallow hard, raising my fist to knock on the door. But for some reason I hesitate. Is this the right thing to do?

My heart is beating so fast I can't even seem to think straight. I haven't felt a single emotion except fear since I learned Lyra had been taken from me.

I promised her she would be safe.

I promised.

"Shit." I mutter, the anxious feelings beginning to stir deep within me. She can't be hurt. She needs to be safe. This is all my fault.

I bang my fist against the metal door, not caring about how loud it is, or the echo it makes. I need to see her as soon as I can. And if these people can help me, then I will gladly take it.

The door swings open and I'm met face to face with a man. He looks younger, but somehow older. I can see the wisdom in his eyes from one glance.

"Jongin." He finally speaks, stepping aside for me to enter. "Please, come in. Sehun is waiting."

I do as told, flinching as the door is locked and dead bolted behind me.

"Why the need for that?" I ask as he walks past me, facing his backside.

"We have one sole enemy, and we cannot afford to let our guard down, come." He gestures, punching a four digit password into the padlock.

"What is your name?" I ask, eyes drawn to the flashing green light.

"You can call me Jongdae."

The door opens, and we walk into the room. I'm blown away by the number of computer screens, weapons, and gadgets that fill the warehouse. Im in the heart of the resistance.

Dozens of people turn to me with wide eyes. Some look surprised, while others look relived. Some are young, some are old. Some look wealthy while others look like they are barely getting by. But I can tell they all have one thing in common.

They want to see the Kkangpae destroyed.

All of them stop what they are doing and stare at me intently. There has to be at least 200 of them.

I'm deeply shocked by this outcome. I never would have thought there were so many people against us. Or, who I was. Nobody had ever told me how hated we were. I was blindly following a criminal my whole life. I was part of the reason these people were suffering, I helped them succeeded.

And now I must help defeat them. That is the only purpose I have left. I must restore the peace this city once had.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts as a single man stands.

Sehun.

"Jongin." He smiles, though his stance spells out some caution. "Welcome, we have been waiting for your arrival."
