Not everything is as it seems, even when you get locked in the closet with it. We banged on the door for five minutes before giving up. The music played beautifully, and loud. We kept our distance, and the tension was heavy. I didn't know what to say, and its seemed he didn't either. 'Well this is awkward.' I look around d to avoid staring at him, but it was hard not to. Even though he is a jerk sometimes, right now he was vulnerable. Unfortunately, so was I. I notice how tired he looked, and how handsome he was. 'What are you thinking?! Its him!' I shake my head. Finally I decided I'd be the first to speak. I clear my throat.
"So, was everything you said what you really meant, or were you just saying that to shut me up?" He raises his arches his eyebrow.
"Both." I was shocked. But relieved.
"Well, thank you. You're the first to point it out without being afraid to hurt my feelings. " I look down to the floor.
"So, since we are trapped in her until somebody figures out we're missing, let's get better acquainted." I nod. "Alright, who goes first?"
"You can." I say without hesitation. For a moment he gives a faint smile then clears his throat.
"What is there really to know? My family is full of doctors, I am the third, and youngest son. My father is a pain when it comes to passing down the company to one of my older brothers because I am not fit for the position as head. I've been trying to prove to him that I can do better, but he resists. I guess you could say I'm a child in his eyes." I could tell the burning anger towards his father in his eyes, but also the distress from not being able to gain his father's approval.
"Hey if its any help, I think you'd make a great jerk boss with your jerky glasses, and bipolar personality." I notice a smirk grow on his face as he let's out a light chuckle. And I can't help, but blush a bit.
"So enough about my sob story, I've been interested in yours." His expression turned soft.
"Well, um....." I let out a sigh. "Okay, when I was young about four, or five, I was wondering the streets, looking for....well I really don't know what. But I was wondering helplessly, sad, and alone. I felt so sad, and so angry....until a strange young women came up to me, and called me a condiment." I looked up, and his reaction was shocking. He was trying not to grin. "I asked her, what kind of name it was, and wondered of she was lost too. Then she told me that mean little girls don't deserve treats as she retrieved a piece of candy out of a bag she was carrying, and of course, a child I was became anxious when she started inching it toward her mouth. I apologized, and you know what she did next? She ate it. Right in front of me. I was a bit upset at first, but then she pulled out a whole bag of them. I couldn't believe the luck I had. She told me her name was Chi, and then she took me to Reiko's, and I was officially an orphan. But it wasn't bad, I met other kids who were dealing with the same thing I was, no parents, and no family. Being left alone to fend for ourselves, which no kid should have to go through. I met a girl, her name was Angi, she was left outside in the snow when Reiko found her, brought her to us, and we instantly clicked. I've never met a more interesting human being, well except you." He places his hand over his heart pretending to be wounded by my comment. I let out a light giggle. "Anyway, we became best friends, and we end up having a little sister of our own, her name was Suki, she was a baby when she was found outside the orphanage. I couldn't help, but cry because of how young she was. She wasn't even a month old, and she wasn't wanted. So Angi and I became her sisters and helped her with everything. We taught her how to read, and write, and even to walk. I'd never felt so happy because for once in my life I felt like I had a really family. I miss them."
"Were they not at the orphanage when we came?" I shake my head.
"When I had gone to visit, Reiko that they had been recently adopted, and were already gone." I could feel my throat tightening.
