This is my first Fanfiction ever, so it might suck! I've had this idea for so long, I needed to share it with you guys. Basically, James had a younger sister who was sorted in Slytherin. It didn't turn out that well for them, but they made their own path. Anna's path leads into Harry's third year at Hogwarts. What could possibly go wrong?

Anything you recognize belongs to JK Rowling!

Without further ado, here's the story!

ANNA'S POV

Anna Potter sat on her bed in a small house that could really be called a cottage. She was thinking about the thing that was always on her mind: her life before that fateful Halloween.

How could things have gone so wrong, all because they'd trusted the wrong person? Almost all of her friends were dead!

She hoped that somewhere in Heaven, or wherever they were now, her friends would all be up there watching her. She couldn't wait to join them, but someone else was still here. After Voldemort's death, she and her bond brother moved in together. She still often ached for the carefree days with all their innocence, uncorrupted by the true darkness of the world.

But it was too late. Had they been completely unaware, the war's shadows would have enveloped them completely.

Anna looked out the window and stared at the stars. When she was in a good mood for reminiscing, she'd repeat their names over and over to the stars until she no longer felt alone.

Lily, Sirius, Severus, Narcissa, and Regulus.

Lily. The intelligently bold redhead was somewhat of a sister to her. She always gave someone a second chance, even when they didn't deserve it. Anna and Lily began drifting apart in their seventh year because she had began to date James.

Sirius. In their first years at Hogwarts, he and James used her  as a target for their pranks. He stopped after an incident in their fifth year. Since then, they had grown closer and became the best of friwnds. She found herself yearning for his jokes and friendliness. But he's a murderer, she reminded herself.

How could someone as loyal as him, sell the Potters out to Voldemort? He couldn't have, she thought. There's no way. There was something about that Halloween night that rubbed her wrong. She remembered the Marauders clearly: four boys as close as they could get to being brothers. Two were dead. One was a traitor. And the fourth?

Currently, the werewolf was in the bedroom across fron hers, trying to catch up on lost sleep. The two of them had moved in with each other after Sirius went to Azkaban and after he died. However, their relationship remained entirely platonic.

They were living in a small house (a cottage, she'd insisted to Remus on multiple occasions) in Wales, where he'd grown up. They were many miles away from the comfort of home. But where was home now? Her illusion of perfection and comfort shattered as soon as she'd taken off the Sorting Hat.

She took a deep breath and returned  to her mental list.

Severus. Her cynical friend with his dry humor and pessimistic mindset. I wonder how he's doing, she thought. She remembered  how he pined for Lily all their years at Hogwarts, yet her heart belonged to James. As dark as he appeared, he did love and care at one point, but war left many people hollow. She owled him on several occasions, but not a single reply.

Narcissa. Seemingly sweet and beautiful, she possessed a core of steel inside. It was a mistake to underestimate her, to peg her as a dumb blonde. Sharp as a whip, Cissa was skilled at mental magic and could've had anyone she wanted, yet married that Malfoy prat, who Anna hated with a burning passion. The blonde witch was five years older than her, but they were close acquaintances.

She thought of Sirius again, who was Cissa's cousin, and immediately wished she hadn't. Another face surfaced over his. The same black hair, stormy gray eyes and pale face... yet not all the same.

Regulus Black.

The name alone brought her immense pain. He was her boyfriend for a few years before he got himself killed by Death Eaters.

At least, that's what Sev told her.

The funeral was small, since most of his friends were dead.

She remembered crying onto Remus's shoulder, who came with her for moral support. The two boys were in rival houses, but they had a mutual understanding after an incident in their fourth year.

There was no body, and only Sev's word. Anna had a feeling that Regulus and Sev plotted something before his death, and that that "something" went awry. She knew that they were both Death Eaters and that they both never wanted to become one. Everyone has reasons, she thought.

Anna reached for her photo album that lay on her side table drawer. She blew dust off the cover and flipped to a random page. She stared her and Lily laughing at the camera, Remus and her sitting beside the lake, James and her in the middle of an argument (that photo was the courtsey of one Sirius Black) and the empty spots.

She remembered Hagrid owling her two years ago, asking her for pictures to give to Harry.

At first, she was reluctant to, because Harry resembled his father in looks so much. They were eerily similar, except for the eyes. That's what made Anna give in.

Lily, who she loved more than she did her own brother. Her blood ran in Harry's veins. She could hate his face, but she would do anything to protect him.
