ANNA'S POV
It was the full moon today, which meant she actually had to teach those little creatures called children.
Today, with her luck, was the group of third years. And with her luck, a fight broke out between the lions and snakes. Fun.
"Enough!" she yelled, as a punch was delivered to Pansy's face.
The class stared back.
"Why do you keep fighting?" she adressed the two houses.
Ron Weasley said, "They're Slytherins. They deserve it. They're all evil!"
A few Gryffindors nodded in agreement.
Anna rubbed her temple, and sighed.
"Okay, I'm going to go off the lesson plan today, and address a topic you may think you know." She paused for effect. "Good versus evil," she said, watching some Slytherins sit up. As they should. It was a chance to redeem themselves.
"So tell me," she drawled. "What makes you think that one whole house is evil?"
Ron frowned. "Almost all the wizards from there become Dark," he stated.
Anna smirked. "Almost all," she threw back. "Dark and Light witches and wizards can come from any house."
"Like Merlin," Blaise commented.
She nodded. "I don't want to see any more of that behavior from anyone. Is that clear? Or else, you'll have a date with detention. Clear?"
The class nodded.
"Great! Now, of Dark and Light spells," she said, scanning the students to see who was paying attention and who wasn't. "How are they decided?"
"The Ministry classifies them," Hermione answered.
"Five points to Gryffindor," Anna said, nodding. "But, they are only classified by what they do. How can a Dark spell be used for good and a Light for bad?"
The class stared back again.
"Anyone? Mr. Longbottom?" she questioned. He looked like he was bursting with the answer, but afraid to give it.
"Erm, well, you could use the Killing Curse on someone who is suffering from torture, to put them out of their misery," he answered nervously.
She nodded. "Correct. Five points to Gryffindor."
"But it's illegal!" Hermione protested.
Anna raised an eyebrow. "But you're doing it with a good intent. Does it make it Dark?"
"Yes," Hermione countered, determined to prove her point. "You're not supposed to kill anyone."
For some reason, this infuriated her. "Tell that to those who fought in the war and died. A few of them were targets and didn't want to fight. They killed for self-defense," she spat.
Turning her attention back to Neville, she said, "That was a common tactic during the war. Your parents did it, did they not?"
He blushed. "Yes, ma'm."
"Now, how about using a classified Light spell for bad? Any examples?"
Daphne raised her hand. "You could use Wingardium Leviosa to knock someone out. Or Aguamenti to drown someone, possibly."
"Good. Ten points to Slytherin," she praised.
Ron sat up. "That's not fair. You're favoring them! You gave her ten points!"
She stared at him boredly. "It is fair. She gave two examples. Two times five is ten," she said, as if she was talking to a small child.
"And you can't say anything about it being fair or not- you're not paying attention."
"But-"
"One more word, and it's a detention," she threatened.
He sat down, fuming.
A question was burning on her tongue. "Do any of you know the three Unforgivables?"
Three quarters of the class raised their hands. "For homework-"
A groan.
"Seriously, you are in school. Do you expect us to give you free candy or something?"
"Okay, as I was saying, you are to name the three Unforgivables and give an example for each as to how they can be used for Good. And then three classified Light spells on how they can be used to harm, or even kill."
The class scrambled to write it down. "And for a bonus of fifteen points, you are to write an essay explaining your viewpoints on the house rivalries, if you agree or disagree, and if you would like it to change."
She paused. "Class dismissed."
