"Try not to kill us at Today's practice, Captain. After all we still have the tournament tomorrow." All the guys laughed in the team room, including Suga as he laced up his cleats. The guys on the team refer to him as Captain, with a lot of emphasis, for he works them good. They were all waiting for him, not minding, chatting away about the recent results of their season. Once Suga was done, he signaled them all to head out with a wave of his hand.
"Three laps, men! No complaints." Some grunted but went out. However, they all stopped short when seeing angry blue paint on the side of the outer wall, perfectly visible on their way out. "'Suck our Di*ks, losers!'? What the hell?!" Everyone started to get rowdy with anger.
"Calm down, calm down!" Suga shoved them all off to start running, and, begrudgingly, they did, but not without calling out some nasty names to the people who were cleaning it up. Cornwall Students.
Suga stopped to glance at the writing, his face twisting into disgust then disappointment.
"Same people, same tricks." He said to Trent, who stood next to him.
"Ey, isn't that the cute girl you were with at the football game?" he pointed to brunette wearing a blue blazer that had CORNWALL printed in white on the back. She was the only one of the group in blue, the others just wore green shirts that said ENACT. Suga's eyes widened in recognition. That familiar tang pricked at him again.
"Hey, Cornwall!" He called to her, seeing her flinch. Slowly lowering her sponge, she turned around, looking to him with pained, beautifully blue eyes, before glaring.
"What do you want? We're busy here." she spat, now it was Suga's turn to flinch. When he did, the girl registered it, and softened a bit. Trent motioned for her to come over and, dropping the sponge, she did. The other members just kept scrubbing off the paint, ignoring them.
As she came closer, Suga eyes began to widen with recognition. She...She had the same...the exact same face as...his little Jihyo, only with age!
"Why are you doing this? Why are you cleaning Mingyu's writing?" he asked, never taking his eyes from her. It seemed that she registered something too, for her eyes grew wide, but she quickly composed herself, wrenching her eyes away from his, with effort. "The teachers ordered me to come back here and clean up my mess, or else I would get suspended. It was me, not them. However, don't think that I wouldn't leave it up here if the teachers didn't catch me."
Suga didn't believe it. Not one bit. He knew that she was lying. He didn't know how, but he just knew that she was.
"You're lying." It wasn't a question, but a knowing fact, a statement. The girl cringed a bit, and instantly he regretted saying it. She looked so much like Suga...
"Oh, come on, Hun. Why would a nice girl like you write somethin as dirty as that?" Trent regarded her with one of his warm smirks. She gave him one in return, but it was sad, and tired. "I'm sorry, but that's just how it is. At the end of the day, it's still my school, they're still my classmates, as idiotic as they are it's the truth." She knows that they really didn't mean to do it, the guys were just naturally stupid.
She turned back to Suga, who was still staring at her, definitely not over her familiar face. "Like you, I have a friend, who I miss dearly. That friend would never let me live it down if I didn't do this. I guess that's one thing we have in common... I apologize on behalf of those idiots... I understand if you find me disgusting by defending them, but..."
This snapped Suga out of his trance, "I don't find you disgusting, not at all..." He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand, looking up to the sky, while she put her hands behind her back and timidly brushed the grass with her foot.
Trent crossed his arms, smirking, for he found this entire sight quite amusing.
"...I actually think that it's great of you to do that. It's the right thing to do." In actuality, it's exactly what he would do too, and he would be more ashamed if she just did nothing about it. How strange...
Trent cleared his throat, making both of them jump. "I think we should get a move on, Captain, for the rest of the team is already finished their laps."
"Y-Yeah! You're right, thanks bud. S-See you at the tournament?" He asked her.
Se smiled brilliantly up at him, smacking him in the face with another resemblance, while also taking his breath away, "Wouldn't miss it for the world." then she ran back to finish scrubbing, while the boys started their laps, the rest of the team making fun by calling them "slow" and "turtles".
As he ran, Suga kept stealing glances at her. She was now smiling to herself as she worked, which made him smile too. I can honestly say, he thought to himself, she's definitely more than "a sweet girl". Much more...
And thus, practice for tomorrow's tournament began.
