"Go back to the field, Suga. I'm fine. You can't lose to them. Leave me here." She smiled to him, but it was a bit pained. He wondered if she was right, if he should get back to the game...but...
Jihyo was astonished, "Are you actually thinking about leaving me here? Don't just stand there, idiot, help me!" She instantly covered her mouth, internally scolding herself for saying what was on her mind.
Suga smiled, that was the Jihyo he knew. So, he picked her up and carried her like a princess to the ambulance outside the field. "Hey, what do you think you're-"
"Shush!" commanded Suga, making Jihyo blush as she crossed her arms over her chest. She silently gave into him with a pout.
In his mind, he knew that he would get scolded for ditching the game after half-time, but hopes the coach will understand. Even so, he still made sure to walk slowly when passing the game so she could see what was happening...and so he could too. They really were alike.
"I can't believe you were actually gonna leave me there, to die," she mumbled in disbelief, while the nurse bandaged her ankle. Suga, who was leaning against the open door of the back of the ambulance, gave a small snort, one Jihyo remembered him doing a lot when they were little. It was Suga's way of saying "Get real."
Now, it was accompanied with an eye roll. It's nice to see that he's changed, she thought sarcastically.
"Oh, please. First off, you told me to go. Second, you weren't dying, Drama Queen. And lastly, I wasn't going to leave you there, but I sure thought about it." He gave her one of his playing smirks and she felt her heart melt a little.
In response, Jihyo crossed her arms over her chest and turned up her nose, closing her eyes, "Hmph. So you did think about it!" Suga sighed, but laughed when she opened one of her eyes to glance at his reaction. She was playing too.
The back-and-forth sarcastic remarks ended with both of them laughing together, mostly at the Nurse, who rolled her eyes so many times one would think they would roll right out of her head. Suga loved Jihyo's hearty laugh, a kind of laugh no girl would ever give him.
"So..." Jihyo started softly, swinging her legs over the edge of the Ambulance. She didn't care about the pain, which was now minor since she was distracted.
"What?"
She took a deep breath, "Do you really not care? Does it really not matter if I'm not your 'Little Jihyo'?" She met his gaze, as he remained still for a second.
"Well..... I'm kidding. No, it doesn't. Besides, you're one heck of a girl, and one giant pain in the butt, with all the trouble you've caused me." He sighed, but smirked.
When she smirked back at him, his insides did a summer-salt with how happy he was. She was his Jihyo, whether she sees it or not, and he's not gonna let her go away this time.
"Aww...." she teased, "Did I pain your wittle heart? You poor thing." She laughed with Suga, their voices becoming lost in the crowd's cheers.
Basshunter's scored two goals.
"I wonder how they're doing....?" Suga thought aloud. Jihyo sighed, drawing his attention as she let herself off the ambulance. When she looked back up to him, she smiled thoughtfully, "I can definitely see how much you've changed, still speaking your thoughts in front of people. Ah well, some habits never change."
"Like you and always wearing your hair up?" He laughed as she thanked the nurse, who gave a small laugh of "Yeah, sure". "Besides, that 'habit' only seems to happen around you, even when we were little."
"Hey! I only wore my hair up like this because you would always say I looked like a girly girl with it down, so it's your fault. As for the speaking, I do take some blame since I always wanted to now what you were thinking, but can you blame me? You always kept things to yourself, like remember when we played hide and go seek? You would pout the entire time because you wanted to play cops and robbers, but never said anything."
Jihyo laughed when he pouted, eyebrows creased a bit, "Just like that!" She laughed so hard that she had to wipe her eyes from tears. With those tears, Suga remembered when he made her cry, for a different reason. It felt so far away even though it was just last night, just like their childhood felt a lot closer, less foggy. Right then, he promised himself that he wouldn't be the cause of her sorrow again.
Like any guy could actually commit himself to that. He will be the cause sometimes, just not knowing it himself.
"The game must be over," said Jihyo, hearing the end of the game horn. She flinched a couple of times on the walk back to the field, and Suga noticed.
"Maybe we should go back to the ambulance...." he suggested.
Jihyo shook her head, "No way! We're almost there anyway. You're just gonna have to deal with my slowness." She tried to lighten Suga's worried mood with that last comment, but it was no good.
"Then I should carry you like before at least."
"No way in heck! Do you know how embarrassing that was? People were looking!" She started to blush at the thought of being carried in his strong arms again.
"Stubborn person," he grumbled.
"Worrywart," she grumbled back.
They both laughed, feeling so normal, so at ease with each other by their side.
Finally, they reached the field. Jihyo smirked maniacally upon seeing Mingyu punching the goal post, not looking happy.
Cornwall lost, but Jihyo won. She won her best friend back. But...was he just her best friend?
Trent, having scored the winning goal, broke away from the jumping Basshunters, ecstatic on their victory. It seemed as though the entire bleachers, full of Basshunters, joined the field to congratulate the team on their victory. They got their revenge on Cornwall, fair and square. Jihyo liked that.
Trent gave a thumbs up with one of his big grins to the two of them.
Suga gave a high wave back, "That's Trent, by the way."
"I know," she said, giving Trent a thumbs-up back-raising her thumbs up high-with a big grin. Suga looked at her, a little shocked, "You do?"
"Yeah," she said, looking up at him with an expression that said: What's the big deal? "He was the reason that I came here in the first place. He showed up at my house, since he walked me home the other night, and convinced me to come. Very gentlemen-like of him by the way. Trent'll make some girl feel like a princess someday."
"So if it wasn't for him..." Suga mused aloud.
"..I wouldn't be here, and you would still be out there, losing to a jerk-face." She finished for him, with a smile.
Suga gently held Jihyo's chin in his hand, smiling at her so devious that it took her breath away, "Well, thank you Trent."
Blush rose into her cheeks, her eyes growing wide.
"...Can I...kiss you...?" he whispered, so close to her mouth. His breath was sweet, minty even.
She gave a blunt "No," which made Suga freeze. "Since you just ruined the moment by asking that. You just gotta go for i-"
She didn't get to finish because Suga manned up, and she started to kiss him back, her insides giddy. Well well....my Suga's not so little anymore...!
When they pulled apart, he smiled down at her, "Better?"
Her eyes drooped a bit, but she smirked, devious, "Could use some improvement, but it was okay."
"Why you-"
At that, Jihyo started running, forgetting about her ankle, with Suga chasing her, smiling. Eventually, though, Jihyo had to wake up to her own pain as she tumbled to the ground, Suga instantly by her side, calling her name. His face was worried, scared even.
She tenderly touched his cheek, smiling softly. "Finally.... I was always so bored, y'know."
"Oh, really?" he sighed with relief, smiling down at her.
"Hey, you two Love-Birds! Get over here, we've got some celebrating to do!" Trent shouted, some of his teammates whistling at the two, while others cheered at the celebration. Suga held his out to her after getting up, "Shall we?"
"I guess," she sighed playfully.
He raised an eyebrow, "You're really sly, y'know that?"
"That's only natural," she stood up tall, poised, before she relaxed. He didn't let go of her hand.
"Hey, Suga..." she started.
He turned his head to her, a bit confused, "What's up?"
"I'm very persistent, sly, and act like a guy sometimes. I'm not someone who most guys think of as girly, but... I'm not going to let you go." She kept walking forward, ignoring his slightly astonished expression that passed so fast, it would've never been pointed out.
He smiled.
"I know."
