Tanya's perspective
I was not angry, I was absolutely furious. How could that mad professor say that. "Having some degrees under his monstrous belly doesn't makes him a God" I said breaking into sobs. Everyone was looking at me, like they were watching clown in a circus. I couldn't take it more and ran out. I heard Armaan telling me to stop but I damn wanted to be alone. I didn't payed any heed to his requests. I ran without looking and entered the first room which I came across. I blessed my luck, the room happened to be an empty girls washroom. The room was dimly lit, a faint smell of disinfectant lingered in the room. I opened the slightly tarnished tap. Sparkling clear water started to to surround my hands. I was starting to enjoy the cold emptiness of the room hallowed with silence when the door opened. I turned back to look at a worried face Armaan standing at the door. He was sweating, probably he was running after me. His eyes were a bit red, his face radiating worry and an unfamiliar warmness. Somehow a part of me was so happy to see him there, my anger starting to cool down. He felt like a cool breeze on a hot summer day, like the snowflakes falling from the heavens or the first daffodils of the spring.
"Are you okay , Tanya. Don't pay a heed to him. He is a over inflated pumpkin, who is jealous that you bested him" he said, somehow approaching with caution. Of course I wasn't okay, I just wanted to retort back. But his innocence just stopped me. I could see the worry in those beautiful brown eyes. I composed myself and said in a meek voice "What are you doing in a girl's washroom. People will think you are a pervert." I winked at him. He smiled and retorted "Beautiful girls like you inspire me to be pervert". I laughed at his antics, totally forgetting about the physics lesson. " Let's get out and enjoy the beautiful day, it's PE period. We get those only once a week." I nodded and he smiled. We walked together to the school ground, talking and ignoring the curious glares we were getting. With every step I was falling for him. I would have never thought about Armaan in this way about a week ago, I was falling in love with him.
The weather had turned overcast with a strong breeze flowing right across the basketball court. . He threw the ball at me, which I barley managed to catch. I looked at him with surprise. "How do you know that I love baseball." He just gave a smug expression " Then let's play and the loser will buy the ice cream" he said snatching the ball from me and started dribbling. I chased him but damn, he was fast. With a small jump, he threw the ball and it sailed perfectly through the basket." 2-0" he beamed. I took the ball and started dribbling. He tried to intercept but I wasn't an amateur either. With a sharp right turn and a jump I threw the ball hard from three pointer range. The ball struck the rim, circled the basket and much to my relief went in. "2-3"." Well played Ms. Sehgal but I am going to win" he somehow injected and took the possession of the ball." In your dreams, good sir" I chipped and followed him. We played for twenty solid minutes. " 42-36" was the score in his favour. With a few minutes left to the final bell indicating the end of the day, I ran with full speed, trying to score a three pointer but suddenly I slipped. Everything went so slow until I took a hit on my stomach, falling face first on hard concrete surface. I got up and looked at my hands. Except a few scratches, there was a cut that was oozing blood. " Are you alright" Armaan shouted and came running in. Noticing the cut he grabbed his bag from the sideline and started to clean the wound with water from his bottle. I wasn't feeling any pain, I was lost in his eyes. He was working like a well oiled machine, tending my wounds like an aged doctor. His eyes were full of determination, his face was blank and despite the exhaustion, he wasn't quivering a bit. Somehow this was the last straw inside me. I was sure that I am love with him. I was in love with my ex-enemy, now friend Armaan Awasthi.
He quickly washed my wound, applied some lotion and covered it with a bandage. Somehow I was surprised that he carried so much in his bag, but I didn't say anything. I was just staring at him. He looked at me with a confused expression and was waving at me to bring me back to senses. "I owe you an ice cream " I said with a beaming face. He laughed and helped me to get up. We walked to the canteen, he somehow missed to notice that we were holding hands. We ordered a stick of chocolate each. We talked about frivolous things, a feeling of joy growing inside me. As the final bell rang and he was escorting me back my bus room. He waved his hand and said goodbye. The room was still empty. I don't know whether it was a instigating factor or not, I caught his hand. He looked back with a confused expression. I stepped forward, we were inches apart. He was just so irresistible and I succumbed to my desires. I kissed him. We were in that position for about 10 seconds before he broke our contact. My eyes were moist, hormones were rampaging inside me. He looked at me for a second and without saying anything left the room, leaving me crying and angry at myself. What the hell, what did I just did.
