Jack's POV:

I flew backwards in the water, as the figure who swam like a bullet towards me hugged me. I stopped myself and pushed the figure back a bit. It was too dark to look at him. "Jack, it's me, c'mon, please don't tell me you don't recognize your bff." I froze and swam over to the light where i could probably get a good look at him and make sure. The figure then came in the light with a smile and a dark grey tail. He had brown hair and somewhat thick facial hair. I knew his voice was familiar. "David!" I swam over to him and hugged him tight. "How she cutting Jack, I missed you, where were ye?" I forgot how deep his voice was. "I was with Mark who has been protecting me from the men in the black suits." "Oh, them they died down a bit but a few men do come in on boats and some dive down. But lucky for us, we're in the area where they haven't dared looked." I nodded and swam over to Mark who was a bit confused. I grabbed his hand and led him to David. "David, this is Mark. Now before to freak out, he's one of the nice humans I met. In fact, me and him are together." I blushed and looked down a bit. I looked up a little to see David swimming around me and Mark. "Hmm. Mark give me your hand." Mark looked confused and looked at me. "Ohh so sorry, most mer people have a gift that they were born with. Mine is seeing into someone's heart and seeing if they are good or bad. Jack's is that he can control water. He got cool power." "It's not that cool." "Dude, it is. Now Mark, give me your hand please." Mark hesitantly gave David his hand and then a glow came off. It was yellow and glowing brightly. I got excited and hugged Mark's neck from behind. "See, I told you he was good." "Yeah yeah yeah, I'll listen. Mark it seems like you are a good one, but please make sure you take care Jack." "I will David." I wanted to kiss Mark's cheek but the bubble was in the way. I frowned a bit. Mark looked back a bit and saw my face. "Why the long face Jack?" "I wanna kiss your cheek but the bubble's in the way." He chuckled and popped the bubble with his finger. He turned around and kissed my cheek. I returned the favor with a kiss on his cheek. I remade the bubble really quick and hugged his neck from behind again. "Well, you two look great together. I'm surprised you took my little brother's heart away." He came beside me and ruffled my hair. I friend and shook my head. "Wait, he's your brother?" "Not for real, he's like my little bro tho." Mark smiled and then swam for a bit with me on his back. "So Mark, how did you two meet and when did you guys  go together?" I blushed a bit. I was about to say something but Mark beat me to it. "Well, I was 9 and Jack was 8 and on the day we met, I was collecting shells for my collection." "Woah, that's cool, you must have a lot of shells." Mark nodded and continued. "Well then, I went to the far side of the beach where no one was there and there was so many shells. All of sudden, I saw someone behind a rock. I thought it was someone in trouble so I walked into the water and swam towards him. I got there and I saw Jack there, with his little head in his hands and looking a bit scared." "I was, I never thought that a human would spot me." We laughed and Mark continued. "Well, I asked if he was ok, and he just nodded his head. He even asked me, am I human, I asked aren't you one too and he told me duck down and see and i saw his tail." "Ever since then, we met each other to collect shells." David clapped his hands and smiled. "That was so cute. Jack what were you doing by the rock?" I blushed again and looked at Mark's back. "I um, wanted to see the humans." "Well, you're very lucky." Then Mark perked up and said something else. "Jack also gave me this green shell that glowed and played a song. I wore it ever since. Didn't wear it now since I didn't want it to float away." "Woah, Mark you are very lucky. Those shells really have a meaning to it. When a mermaid or merman like a certain person, they will give you a glowing shell that plays a song. If that person takes the shell and keep it with them for the next time they meet, they will be together forever." David smiled while me and Mark were dazed. "I didn't know the meaning behind it, I just thought it was pretty." "Well now you do, but it's ok, you two are meant for each other." "Thank you." As we continued swimming and talking, Mark and David stopped dead in their tracks. I looked over Mark's shoulder to see what they saw. All I could was algae and coral. Then i saw something move away.

Mark's POV:
I looked up to try to see what was moving. It looked more like a person than just a fish. Jack hugged my neck tightly as me and David swam towards the figure. As we kept swimming, I was feeling a bad aura around this area. When we got to the place where we thought the figure was going. "David, do you think anybody followed us?" "I doubt it, this area is known for different sharks and other dangerous creatures. But whoever is following us, is being really bold." We swam back to our spot but then, something whizzed by us. I looked down and saw an arrow. We turned back and saw three men with underwater suits on."SWIM"  David yelled and we started swimming fast towards the area we were at. The arrows kept coming and they were getting closer and closer. I stopped and looked behind us and I spotted no one. "Who were those people?" "Probably the ones looking for your species." We took a break, found a rock and took a break. "Mark, How did they find us down here?" "I don't know, but they must be following us or something." "Or something, but listen I have an idea." I looked at David for a second. "David, what's your idea? Because we are weighing our options." "I'll distract them while you guys swim for it, the rock to the shore is not far from here." I froze for a second, thinking about it. Then, I heard Jack gasp and tighten his grip on my neck a bit. "David, you can't, you'll probably get kidnapped or worse, k-killed." I could hear the sadness and shock in Jack's voice. I turned around and hugged Jack. I could hear him sob and even tho we're underwater, I could tell he crying a waterfall. I hugged him tightly as he was still crying. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I slowly turned around to see David with serious and sad look on his face. "I'm going, Mark, do what you've been doing, and protect Jack for me." I nodded and let go of Jack. I leaned on the rock with Jack and waited for David. "Ok, when I swim out, GO and don't look back." I nodded my head and i looked back at Jack, who's head was down. He slowly nodded and held my hand tightly. "Ok, in three two one, GO."  David swam from behind the rock and we saw a blinding light. I swam with Jack to the rock on the shore. We swam faster and faster until we reached it. Jack tackled me into a hug and started to cry a bit. "It's ok Jacky, it's ok. I will protect you."

David's POV:
I swam towards the guys and used my power to blind them and try to escape but the men still kept shooting blindly. I had to find the rock. I have to find Jack and Mark. I have to- as soon as I finished thinking, I felt something in my tail. I fell down and onto a rock. I tried to get up, but my arm was bruised and bleeding. It'll probably attract sharks but right now, I have to get up. I limped up but fell again. I reached up to get kelp but a foot got to my hand and stomped on it. I screamed in pain and groaned. I looked up and saw man in some sort of underwater suit. I clenched my teeth and held back another scream. "Well, well, well, I see we found one. I saw your friend swimming away with someone else, tell me where they are going and I'll probably let you go, and the pain will be less." "You already fucked my tail up, what else do you need?" His foot put more pressure on my hand and I clenched my teeth tighter. I looked up to see this man. He had a white mask on with a poker face on it. He voice sounded serious and I could tell he wasn't. "Now, tell me, where's the other merman?" "Never, you poker faced fucked face dick!" I was so enraged I didn't care anymore. "He let go of my hand and bent down and grabbed my throat. "You have a mouth on you. But I'm not gonna kill you, I'm a patient man, but I don't have time for you. You could be useful tho." He let me go and I gasped and coughed. I then felt myself around a fishing net. "Let's get him on the boat. At least the boss will be happy with this merman." They swam with them carrying me. I looked down at my arm and covered it, trying to minimize the blood. I closed my eyes and I wanted to cry. At least Jack is safe.
