Landslide- Dixie ChicksAll actions have consequences. Whether big or small, this simple statement is a universal fact. So, when Wally West stood in front of me, his perky green eyes piercing through my own, and asked me the following question, terrified was an understatement.
"Tell me, Delmira," he asked, a cocky smile quickly flickering across his pink lips. "Tell me that you don't have feelings for me." His tongue ghosted teasingly across his bottom lip. The touch of his fingertips sent tingles down my arms. "Because that kiss you just gave me tells different."
Before I could respond, there was a click, and a voice sounded over the intercom. My saving grace... so I thought.
"Wild Flower?"
"Yes?" I responded, letting out a captured breath.
"Wild Flower, your presence has been requested by Martian Manhunter in room 201."
"What for?" I asked, pulling my eyes away from the ginger-haired heartthrob and angling my chin toward the ceiling.
"He didn't say; just said it was urgent."
I sighed and looked back down at Wally, who was staring at me, waiting earnestly for a reply to his earlier statement. "I'll be right there." And the intercom clicked off. Quickly, I swiveled toward the door, retreating from Wally and his imposing question.
"I'll talk to you soon. I promise." If I had been facing him, I would have seen the look of worry that had now passed across his features, but I was already halfway out the door.

I sat in a plain gray room, the florescent lights painting a sickly pale tone against my exposed skin. Martian Manhunter stood in front of me with a placid expression. My fingers tugged nervously at the hem of my shirt."I don't remember anything about my family," I squeaked out, almost chocking after trying to swallow the lump building in my throat. "Except some brief glimpses of my parents' faces." I was lying, but he didn't need to know that.
"What about your powers?" He asked. His voice echoed through the bare walls. "Do you know where they come from?" Every part of my training from childhood was telling me to run.
"No." My voice was hard, stern, which was a contrast to the fluttering in my heart. "I don't remember anything before the day I woke up in the lioness cave. With scars over 70 percent of my body and a wicked headache." It didn't make sense, he could tell. Even if, for some reason, lions were suddenly accepting of humans, I shouldn't have woken up with scars. Scars meant at least a little healing- but I had no remembrance of healing at all- or the direct aftermath of the fire.
