Sasuke's POV (until otherwise stated)
Iruka-sensei walks in about five minutes later, taking in the full classroom, raising his eyebrows upon seeing Naruto on time. I smirk. That's because of me, I think to myself.
"Alright, class," he starts, clapping his hands together. "Since the exams are in four days, I figured we'd try something a little different than usual and see how it goes."
Everyone in the room starts muttering to one another on what they think the surprise is. Naruto and I stay silent, however, exchanging hopeful glances.
"Come on in," Iruka-sensei says loudly, and the door opens to reveal an Anbu Black Op who walks in quietly.
"Oi, that's Eagle-sama!" Naruto whispers.
"Eagle-sama?" I ask.
She nods before explaining. "I call him that because of his mask. I don't know his real name."
"Do you know him personally?"
"A bit," she responds before being scolded by Iruka-sensei for talking.
The Anbu member- Eagle-san -waves to the class and begins to talk to the class about the friendships and trials that shinobi face with their teams. He tells us about how he lost a member of his team and how that motivated him to grow strong for her and eventually he became an Anbu. It was fairly interesting, but every time I look to my right, Naruto seems a bit restless and bored, as if she has heard the story before.
"What's up with you?" I whisper to her carefully.
"He's told me this story before, only in even more detail, so I'm basically just hearing a summary of something I've already read," she explains.
I nod, and continue listing to Eagle-san. At the end of his story, the class claps and he scratches the back of his neck like Naruto does when she's embarrassed. Not that I pay attention to that or anything.
Iruka sends him off with a thanks and concludes the lesson, telling us that another Anbu will visit tomorrow, and then we would train the day after that.
After we are dismissed, Naruto bolts up, grabs my wrist, and takes me to Shikamaru. "He's not evil," she states bluntly.
He raises an eyebrow. "You got him to talk to you?"
She nods excitedly and quickly says goodbye to him, dragging me along with her out the Academy.
"What the hell are you doing, baka?"
She huffs in annoyance and drops my wrist. "We're going to find Eagle-sama and tell him that he did a good job today."
"Why bring me instead of Shikamaru or someone?" I ask her, though I would've probably followed her if she had. I finally started talking to her, and no lazy, prickly-haired buzzkill was going to take that away from me.
And yes, I admit it, I truly do enjoy talking to her. But I'll never say it out loud.
"Shika's weird when it's just us two. Same with Choji and Kiba, and I don't want to bring all three of them along."
"Then go alone?"
"Do you want me- the villagers' punching bag -to wander the village alone?" she asks me, exasperated.
"I guess not," I admit.
"Exactly, now come on," she orders, grabbing my wrist again.
Her touch sends warmth through my arm, which is weird, because I've always been told that it would be sparks, or tingling, but honestly, the warmth and safety that replaced that was probably better.
As we look around the village, I ask if Naruto even knows what she's doing or where she's going, and she looks at me happily.
"Nope."
I laugh and we venture around for a bit before stumbling upon another Anbu, though his mask is not like Eagle-san's.
"Cat-sama!" Naruto shouts happily.
The Anbu looks up and tilts his head when he sees me and Naruto.
"Naruto," he says in greeting.
"How did the mission go? Did you kick ass?" she questions, dropping my wrist and sitting next to him on the fence. I follow her lead and hop up next to her.
"As usual," he says, and I can practically see the smirk on his face.
Naruto laughs. "Those guys never knew what hit them, I bet."
"Oh, I made sure they knew who not to mess with," he says. "Konoha is not some village to push around."
She nods seriously, soaking in every word from the looks of it.
"Who's your friend there?" Cat-san asks looking at me.
"Oh, this is-"
"I'm Sasuke. Uchiha Sasuke."
He nods. "I figured as much," he says. "Well, welcome to the world of Naruto," he laughs. "A world you'll never escape."
"Hey!" Naruto yells, hitting his shoulder lightly. "You take that back!"
"I can't take back the truth," he jokes.
Naruto pouts a bit and I can't help but laugh along with Cat-san.
If this is the world of Naruto, I think, then I never want to leave.
