I throw a look at the pink house next door. It's Nathan's house and I can't help thinking he should be taking me to school, not Sharon. "You're going to end up with a permanent scowl at this point, sis." My annoying older twin brother Joshua calls, breaking my train of thought.

"Oh, shut up, Josh." I roll my eyes and get in his car.

"You know I could always make you walk to school." Josh looks at me with the same green eyes as mine.

"And I could always tell mom that you were the drunk idiot that crashed my car." I shoot him a dirty look.

He sticks his tongue out at me. Real mature for a guy that will be eighteen in a couple months. "Are you still upset about that, sis?" My brother asks as he drives the seven miles to school.

A week before school started, Josh and I went to a back-to-school party in the desert outside of the city. I was having such a wonderful time, till Josh ruined it. My brother made a bet with his boyfriend, Dave, that he could totally drive wasted. So what did he do? He got wasted. And guess what? He totally can't drive wasted!

My beautiful '98 Cadillac ended up in a ditch somewhere near the highway not far from the party. Since my brother was on the verge of getting kicked out of the house, I took the blame. Mom and dad were furious. So was I, but I knew a better way to cash out on mine. For this entire school year, Josh is my slave and I'll work him to death. Cue evil laugh.

I give my twin a 'seriously, dude' look. "No! I've always wanted to suffer car rides with my twin because sharing the womb just wasn't enough." I say with sarcastic happiness.

Josh plays along. "Ah! Who's my favorite twin in the world?"

I sigh and fall back in my seat as we enter the parking lot. The place is pretty empty. We must be a couple minutes early. "I'm your only twin, dumbass. Unless we were really triplets and there's another twin I don't know about. Is there something you aren't telling me, Josh?"

"You caught me," he puts his hands up playfully, "There was another one, but I got hungry in the womb and ate her. Careful! You might be next." Josh jokes as he shuts off the car and gets out.

I'm ashamed to call him my twin. What kind of soon-to-be-adult makes jokes like that? I get out of the car and storm off across the wet grass to the auditorium. The grey sky mirroring my annoyance.

Josh keeps pace besides me. He even sits down next to me in the back of the auditorium as we wait for all the other students to arrive for the welcome speech. Every year, it's the same routine. First day of school, Principal Snyder gives out a long boring speech. Then each of the teachers give one. And finally, we are given our schedules. This usually takes all of first period, which is about an hour and a half.

I snap my head at Josh. "Don't you have to make out with Dave under the bleachers or something?"

He clicks his tongue and shakes his head. "That's for football practice, sister."

"You are suppose to be practicing football, not the art of making out." I tell him in a hushed whisper.

Josh laughs loudly. "I don't think my lips got the memo."

"You are so gross. How does Dave stand you?" I ask as I scan the area. Sharon is up near the front, cuddling with Nathan. My eyes narrow on them as someone takes the seat next to me.

"You could ask him yourself." Josh says as he spots Dave enter and waves him down.

My brother may be annoyingly dumb, but at least he knows how to pick them. Dave Doughly is a year younger than us and he's a junior this year, but he's wicked smart. I swear that kid is going to end up becoming a lawyer or doctor. Not only does Dave has brains, but he's not bad to look at either. His looks are that of a model, what with his sexy black hair and dark eyes.

What? So sue me for checking out my brother's boyfriend. Dave is hot and all, but he's gay. Full on gay. I checked before they started dating. Don't freak out on me, people. I don't open my legs for every hot guy. Besides, did you forget? I'm after Nathan here.

"Hey, Dave." I bob my head at him in acknowledgment and go back to glaring at Sharon.

"Nice to see you, too, Spawn," Dave's nickname for me, "And it's certainly nice to see you, babe." Dave sits next to my brother, casually putting an arm around Josh's shoulder.

Josh gives him a peck on the cheek. "It's always nice to see you."

"Get a room, you two! You guys are in public." Did I mention that I hate PDA?

"I don't see what's wrong with it." The person next to me comments.

I snap my head to look at this said person. It's a dude with shaved hair and a small Mohawk, dyed blue, and dark green eyes. To others, he may seem intimidating with all his piercings and a partially covered tattoo on his neck, but to me, he was a fly on the wall. I haven't seen him around before. He must be new. I smirk inwardly while keeping a pissed off look. Time to show newbie his place.

"Did I ask for your opinion, piercings?" I ask rudely.

The dude chuckles to my comment. Chuckles. I give him a death glare. "Piercings? What gave it away?" He asks sarcastically back. Turning his head, he shows off all the piercings on his ears, also lightly touching the one on his bottom lip.

I scoff and cross my arms. "Don't flatter yourself."

"Why would I need to, when you are already doing that for me." He smirks at me.

Josh makes a cat sound beside and says jokingly, "Me-ow! Cat fight!"

I'm already in a bad mood and this is making it worse. "It's about to be a real one in a couple seconds." I growl through my teeth.

"Those are some big words, kitty." Piercings says back tersely.

I stand up and yell angrily, "Don't call me kitty!"

He stands, too. "Make me!" He says in a harsh tone and takes a step closer.

Before I know it, Josh is between the two of us. "Okay, calm down you two." He laughs nervously.

I completely ignore Josh and I'm sure piercings is, too. We are having this deadly staring match between the two of us. "Bite me!" I hiss at piercings.

I feel someone tug on my arm. Thinking it's Dave, I pull my arm away and warningly growl, "Don't touch me." I was wrong. It wasn't Dave, but Mr. Livingston. Only the meanest and most cold hearted of all the teachers. That is, if he has a heart. That is yet to be proven.

"Excuse me, young lady." His voice is stern and I hear someone snicker behind me. I don't know if it's Josh or piercings, but I vow to kill whoever snickered. When I don't say sorry, Mr. Livingston continues speaking, "Both of you are making a scene. I don't care about what you children are arguing about, but you can take your couples fight to the principal's office."

"Oh! There's no-"

I was in the middle of a protest, but Mr. Livingston cuts me off with, "Now!" He sounds angry and takes off.

I stay where I am, mouth open, still in the middle of talking. "Close your mouth, babe." Piercings whispers to me as he walks by. I close it all right, and my hands formed fists.

Piercings can really get under my skin. I follow after them, quickly and irritated. I catch up with them as we push through the double doors out onto school grounds. "Don't tell me what to do, piercings." I say to him as I walk in front of him.

"You sure are feisty, aren't you, kitty?" Piercings says right behind me.
