Seven: Ice Cream

I sit there with a gloom over me as I lick my chocolate ice cream. We are sitting at a booth in Jimmy's Parlor, an ice cream shop near school. Jay is staring out the window, probably daydreaming about Sharon.

He's barely touched his mint chocolate chip, which is slowly melting in his hand. It's hard for me to not ask how into a girl he can be by just looking at her, but I have to play this safe in order for my plan to work. If he doesn't know that she's the one that I want to take down, then that makes all of their feelings real. Which makes for a better performance.

As you probably have guessed, I plan on having Sharon and Jay be together. Not in the sense that you may be thinking. I simply want her to cheat on Nathan, get some proof of that, and present it to Nathan. Once he, and the whole school, sees Sharon's true colors, she'll be left high and dry. Unloved and unwanted. Hated by the whole school. She'll finally be getting what she deserves.

"So how do you know her?" I ask Jay and take a lick of my ice cream.

"Huh?" He finally returns from la la land. Jay looks at me as if he just realized I'm there. Worst of all, he looks star struck. Well, I guess that's rather good for the plan.

"The girl from the parking lot that you were staring at." I tease him a bit.

He scoffs. "I wasn't staring."

I shrug. "Whatever you say, piercings."

"I don't stare at girls, they stare at me, kitty." He says, trying to prove a point.

I raise an eyebrow, secretly glad that he is finally talking to me now. "So how do you know blondie?" I get back to the subject at hand.

"Remember how I kind of blew up on you after Mr. Snyder's office?" Jay asks slowly, most likely thinking that I'll hold a grudge against him. Usually I don't, but Sharon is the only exception to that. Jay doesn't know that, though.

I give him a small smile. "How could I forget one of our most splendid conversations?"

He chuckles. "That girl was in my class. The only empty seat was next to her, and I took it reluctantly. At first, I thought she was one of those goody toe shoes and being my angry self, I may or may not have said something snarky when she tried to talk to me."

I give him a smile, a little happy that he was rude to her. Jay gives me a questioning look, but continues, "After a couple minutes, I apologized," and there goes my smile, "and we got to talking. Her name's Sharon and there's just something about her."

Jay trails off after that and I know that I've lost him to Sharon's spell. This is good news for my plan, so why does it make me feel uneasy? Ignoring the gnawing feeling in the pit of my stomach, I ask, "Do you think you will ever see her again?"

Jay gives me a smirk. "We go to the same school. What do you think?"

I shake my head slightly. "I meant in the romantic sense."

Jay leans back in the booth and licks up the remainder of his ice cream. "Can't say for sure."

"Well, it would be a challenge for you." I say with a sly smile.

Jay takes the bait and asks, "How so?"

"I doubt she would give up prince charming for a dork like you, piercings." I tilt my head and give him an innocent smile as I finish off my ice cream.

Jay scoffs. "I can get any girl I want, regardless of their relationship status, kitty. I'm hurt that you doubt my abilities." He chuckles and that gets rid of my smile.

"Fine then. Prove me wrong, 'bad boy'. Get little Miss Sunshine." I growl at him.

Jay smirks. "What do I get out of it if I win?"

"Oh? So you want to make this a challenge." I lean forward and am completely aware that an insane smile is on my face. I love a good challenge. Scratch that. I love all challenges.

"I thought it already was." Jay's smirk gets bigger and I can tell he likes challenges too.

"Oh," I giggle a bit from excitement, "it is now. You have till winter break. And if you can't get her by then, I make you my slave for a week."

"And if I do get the girl?" Jay raises an eyebrow as he asks.

"Then... you are allowed to make three requests and I must do them all without fail." I sit back in my chair with a smug smile.

Jay sits back as well and he's got a smug smirk on his face. "Challenge accepted."

Suddenly, the bell chimes and in walks Sharon followed by Rene, her boyfriend Nathan, and half of the football players. "The timing couldn't be better. Look who just walked in." I nod my head over at the group as they are lead to the other side of the parlor.

Jay chuckles. "They don't scare me." I raise an eyebrow. Jay understands exactly what I'm indicating. "Fine." He says, getting up and wiping his hands with a napkin. "I'll prove to you how bad ass I am by whisking her away right now."

That statement alone makes me laugh. Jay gives me a small pout. I just point over at Sharon. "You better hurry while she's alone." Sure enough, Sharon was walking over to the counter by herself to order.

Jay gives me a confident smile. I hold in my laughter as best I can and give him a thumbs up. "This is going to be good," I whisper to myself.

"What is?" A frighteningly familiar voice whispers in my ear. It's the devil's incarnation, Shamin. He takes Jay's seat across from me.

I cross my arms and turn away. "How did you know I'm here?"

Shamin gives me a cold smile. "I have my sources, love."

"Don't tell me that you are stalking me, leprechaun." I ask while glancing at him cautiously.

Shamin gives me a dry laugh. "You're not my type, love."

"So what do you want?" I ask Shamin, trying to speed things up.

"To watch the show." Shamin replies as a sick smile spreads across his freckled face. I'm greatly confused and just wish he would say what he means instead of this weird crap. As if on command, there's a loud crash.

I look past Shamin and see Nathan on top of Jay with a few stools knocked over. Sharon, being the dumb blonde she is, is just standing off to the side. She's not even trying to stop her boyfriend from beating up Jay. I grit my teeth and walk over calmly.

The few patrons in here have already formed a crowd around the fight. While the guy at the counter is on the phone, I push through the crowd. Jay manages to flip Nathan over and is now on top of him. He gives Nathan two or three punches to his perfect face. I see the gush of blood and silently growl, knowing that Jay just broke Nathan's nose.

A few students in the crowd give me some suspicious and dirty looks as I walk over to the two. None more so than Sharon, though I'm the only who notices. Ignoring all the looks, I swiftly grab Jay's arm as he pulls it back to hit Nathan again.

I tug on it and Jay looks up at me with a glare. I manage to pull him off and Nathan sits up. Suddenly Sharon starts being an attentive girlfriend and rushes over to Nathan. I roll my eyes at the stupid sight as I hear the sirens off in the distant.
