Four: Only a Matter of Time

A crowd is already gathering around. Dave is holding onto Josh, while my twin glares dagger at the guy who punched Jay. I rise from my seat slowly, while glancing at that said person.

It's a guy from the football team. His name's Sean. He has the intellect of a T-Rex, and acts like one, too. He has blonde hair, brown eyes, and is at least six feet tall. To top it off, he's big and meaty.

I've seen him talking to Josh and Nathan before at a couple parties, but never actually met the dude. From what I've heard, he's a real sleaze ball. And until now I didn't give a damn about that. Hell, I barely knew he existed.

While Sean is standing over Jay panting, and probably seeing red, I silently walk over. Sean's veins are nearly popping out of that large lump he calls a head. "I told you to stay away from here, punk!" Sean yells at Jay while Sean's friends are trying to hold him back.

Jay is watching from the ground with a hand on his jaw and I can see a real fire burning in those green eyes of his. Too bad he didn't see the storm raging in mine. Without warning or hesitation, I've punched Sean in the diaphragm.

His friends, shocked, let Sean go. The giant falls and is on his knees wheezing. My eyes dart around to take in my surroundings. Those that haven't seen me fight before seem shocked, while Dave looks worried, Josh looks like he's itching for a fight, and Jay looks impressed and is smirking.

Shrugging, I turn to Jay, "What can I say? I have a way of making people breathless." I have to admit, a small smile was on my face.

Jay chuckles. This time I don't find it obnoxious because I know it's probably pissing off Sean way more. At the sound of that, my smile turns evil and I turn back to Sean. I kick him while he's down, and I know that it's dirty, but I'm not done with the scum yet.

I kneel down and grab a handful of Sean's hair. "Punching someone while their guard is down. That's pretty low, even for an I.Q. as nonexistent as yours. You should know better."

A sadistic grin replaces my evil one. Fear shines brightly in Sean's crap eyes. I continue with my deadly tone. "For your sake, I hope you have enough brain cells to leave Jay alone for now. 'Cause next time, I won't go easy on you, pretty boy."

With that threat, I let Sean go. Jay walks over, I wasn't even aware that he stood up. He gets a right hook at Sean's face, knocking a tooth out and leaving the lump trembling on the ground like a newborn. Then Jay wipes his hands on his pants.

Jay and I actually smirk together and with narrowed eyes, we turn to Sean's friends. There are three of them. All buff and most likely on the football team. Currently though, they each looking like a frightened girl. If one of us went boo, they would all probably piss their pants. However, we just silently glare them down. It was difficult to hold in my laughter.

Sensing that there would be no more fights, the crowd eases up and let's the teachers through. Mr. Livingston and Mrs. Clyde, the 50 year hag of a science teacher, escort Jay and I to the principal's office.

On the way there, Jay leans over and whispers to me, "You're not so bad, kitty."

I give him a sideways glance. Jay is smirking as always. "You're not so bad yourself, piercings." I even give Jay a wink before the teachers yell at us to be quiet.

Soon we are back where we were this morning, in front of Principal Snyder's door. Mrs. Clyde opens it this time, and points us inside. Snyder gives them a nod and the door is shut behind us. Before it can close, though, I catch the suspicious smiles of the teachers.

Suddenly, my bad ass mojo is gone and I'm left feeling uncomfortable. I keep a poker face as I speak. "I get to see you twice in a day, Snyder. Lucky me!" I say with fake enthusiasm. Jay chuckles beside me.

Snyder gives me a cold sneer. "It was only a matter of time, Sanders."

He pulls out two files and I quirk an eyebrow. "Care to explain?" I point at them as Snyder places them on his desk.

"Oh, these?" Snyder waves his hand over the files, "I figured a week of detention wasn't enough for you. So instead you will be spending a week with the janitor. You'll be cleaning up the school."

"How fun!" Jay says from beside me and I can sense his smirk.

"I could always make it two weeks, Pawley." Snyder says warningly.

I let out a soft laugh. "Why not three, Snyder?"

Snyder glares at me. "Two weeks. That's it. Now sign both of these. You start today after school." His tone was final and I knew that was the end of the conversation.
