~David's point of view~

I'm walking behind my brothers - Mark and Bob - and Billy andDougie, taking in my little Heartland town. It's a very nice town, actually. Lived here my whole life.

The five of us were going to the city hall. The mayor had asked for us and well...we were going to see what he needed. I glanced over to a house that said 'For Sale' a week ago, wondering if anyone had moved in yet. The sign was now gone and there was a moving van!

"Hey fellas, look! Someone moved into that house!" I said excitedly, getting the attention of my brothers and friends.

"Dave, you're 29 years old. Not 9. I don't know why you're getting so excited about this." Mark, my oldest brother said to me.

"He's probably hoping it's a good looking chic, ain't ya Dave?" Dougie suggested, elbowing me and giving me a wink.

I rolled my eyes and shoved him playfully.

"Doubt it's probably a single girl at all! Probably a family. This town is nice and safe." Bob suggested.

We all thought about it for a while before nodding our heads and agreeing with Bob. Him and Mark are usually the smarter ones our of us. But I couldn't help but glance once more at the moving van and the truck parked behind it. Moments later, agirl, around my age, maybe a little younger, walked out from the house and behind the moving van, getting out a box and carrying it back into the house. She...was...beautiful. She had long, black wavy hair that stopped just above her hips. And her skin was tan. She was skinny though. She looked almost...sickly. But I was still very attracted to her. I couldn't explain it. And soon, I found my legs walking away from my brothers and friends, to the direction of the house, hoping I could talk to the girl.

I got there just as she had returned to the moving van. Her back was to me as she got more boxes

"Need help?" I found myself blurting out as soon as I was by the van. I think I startled her though, because I noticed her jump slightly.

"Huh?" she turned her head to look at me, and we ended up having to tilt our heads to make eye contact. I had to tilt my head down, while she had to tilt it up. "Oh! Um....no thanks. I'm almost done anyways. But thank you though." she said, giving me a small smile. I could detect a southern accent.

"I'm David. David Henderson." I offered, smiling back at her, holding out my hand. Her smile got a little bigger as she took my hand and shook it.

"Lola Cade. I just moved here, as you can see." She said with a slight chuckle.

"Well, welcome to Heartland! Where are you from?" I asked her, not noticing that we were still holding hands.

"I'm from Oklahoma." she said simply, but still smiling.

We both kind of stood there, just staring at each other. She had the most beautiful brown eyes. They were almost black. Gave her a mysterious feel. I think I could stare at them forever....

"Lola! What is taking you so long?!" A man exclaimed as he walked out of the house and stood on the porch, arms crossed in front of his chest. Lola and I quickly pulled our hands away, but I could also notice Lola tense up as soon as she turned around to look at the man.

"I-I-I was just talking to some of our neighbors, Jared. N-no big deal." She stuttered out, looking intimidated by the man. I would be too, this man was huge...and kind of mean looking.

"W-w-well I want to w-watch the game and eat a s-sandwich. But I can't find the box with the plates!" Jared said, mocking Lola's stuttering. I don't like this man. "Now say bye to your little friend and bring in the rest of the boxes." he snapped to her. Lola just nodded her head and grabbed the last to boxes. She walked away, before looking back at me and giving me a small smile before going inside the house.

"And you, stay away from my girl! Got it, punk." Jared snarled at me, before following Lola into the house and shutting the door. I stood there for a moment, staring up at the house before Mark had trotted up to me from behind and snapped me out of my trance like state.

"Hey, David, you okay?" he asked me, concern noticeable in his eyes. I just simply nodded my head before allowing Mark guide me to city hall where the others were.

"Did you meet the new neighbors?" Mark asked me, trying to make conversation as we walked to city hall.

"Yeah..."

"And?"

I looked at Mark before saying "I think I'm in love Mark."
