holiday in florida | djh [discontinued]

AN~Heyo! It's wormtastic! If you're a long-time follower of mine, you may have noticed that I unpublished all of my other stories and thats just because they were crap. They were super cheesy and I wanted to start fresh (like Dan-wait I'm sorry, Daniel Howell)

Anyway, without further ado, let's begin -

You are fresh out of college (well, you dropped out) and are temporarily living with your family in Tampa, Florida. Over Christmas, Phil visits his family, who just so happen to be your new neighbors, and Dan tags along. You meet and Dan asks you to be his 'tour guide through the city' and by the New Year, you may be even more than that. ;)

If you're reading this you probably know the drill, but just in case:

(y/n) - your name

You close the door behind you and drop your duffel bag in the doorway. Almost immediately, your parents rush to the foryer showering you in hugs and kisses. You just returned home from college and are moving back in until you can find a place for yourself.

"We missed you so much!" your mom exclaims as she leads you to the dinner table. You smile and help her set the table.

"It's only been since Thanksgiving break, which was a week ago." You reply with a chuckle. Your mom hugs you again, then you head out to your car to unload it.

(If you don't have siblings ignore this paragraph)

"(y/n!)" Your (little/older) (brother/sister) announces as (he/she) walks out of the garage. (He/She) gives you a hug before pulling out one of your laundry baskets and your suitcase. You smile, thankful for the help, as you carry an IKEA bag full of your clothes inside.

Just as you set the bag on your bed, your mother calls you for dinner. You fill a cup with water and as you are getting ready to sit down at the table she pulls you aside.

"Your father is still pretty upset that you dropped out, so let's not mention it tonight, okay?" She whispers and you nod. You sit down at the table and in front of you sits (fav food).

"Looks amazing mom!" You exclaim with a big smile and the rest of your family take up the remaining seats. (optional) You bless the food and begin eating.

There is a long silence as everyone at the table stuffs their faces. You're exhausted from traveling, but still try to make conversation.

"I can't believe it's still so hot in December! It's kind of weird to look at the Christmas tree when wearing a tank top." You exclaim, earning a chuckle from your mother.

"You wouldn't have to look at it if you were still in your dorm room." Your dad grumbles.

You turn to glare at him. "This was my decision." You retort.

"Oh, because film editing and making YouToo videos is going to get you so far." He says, waving his hands in the air.

"YouTube," you correct him. "Your nephew Shane has made quite the living from it. He makes way more money than you."

"Don't you start with me young lady!" Your dad shouts throwing his napkin on the table. He gets up from the table and heads to his study.

The rest of your family continues their meal in silence and you poke at your food, suddenly not hungry.

"So, the new neighbors finally moved in." Your mom says in an attempt to lighten the mood. "I talked with them for a few minutes this morning as I was walking Presley." Presley is your black and white husky who you begged for in ninth grade and has been part of your family ever since. "They're a middle-aged couple who retired from London and they have a son your age. We made plans to get together once he arrives."

"Okay cool!" You reply with a smile. You're excited to meet someone new.

You finish your meal and get up from the table. You head to your room and don't even bother to unpack anything before you grab your laptop and scroll through tumblr.

Minutes later you're fast asleep.
