I have a lot of chapters that I keep forgetting to upload, so I'll just upload a bunch at a time, I guess... XD

Chapter 8

'So, somebody please remind me... what am I supposed to do with Sasuke now?'

Several mind links wavered. Laughter? 'Aren't you two friends?' asked Gaara, sounding a little confused.

'Well, yeah, I guess. But seriously – what am I supposed to do with him? I have to stay with Naruto for a bit, right? I mean, we just met Bee yesterday.'

'Sorry, but he's your responsibility for now,' said Tsunade, not sounding at all sorry. 'I guess the three of you will just stay together, at least for a while.'

'Gee, thanks,' I grumbled.

'What was that?' she demanded playfully.

'Nothing, nothing! Lord Raikage, we're on our way to the meeting spot. We're probably going to run into... Motoi, was it?'

'Yes. He is Bee's caretaker and friend. Be careful not to upset him.'

'Sure thing. Well, with these two boys, I'm not really confident in our ability to fulfill that...' I trailed off, raising an eyebrow as I noticed the two of them walking in complete silence. 'Speaking of which, where will Sasuke be during the war?'

'Good question,' said Tsunade. 'I think he'll be a valuable ally on the battlefield.'

'Yes, but which division?' the Mizukage mused. 'We should put him with the Hyuga clan. They'll keep an eye on him, and they're both suitable for special attacks.'

'That's a good idea,' said the Tsuchikage.

'I think so, too,' I said. 'I can't imagine they'll be particularly friendly to each other, but it'll be fine. Probably.'

'Alternatively, we release him later, after we find out the enemy's tactics.'

'There's no point,' I said. 'They already know we have him, and they know what he can do. I don't think keeping him as a reserve would be particularly helpful. If Kabuto does use the Edo Tensei, largescale, it would be really useful to have an Uchiha fight another Uchiha.'

'Unless it's Itachi,' Tsunade pointed out. A cold feeling swept over me, like I'd been drenched in ice water all of a sudden. I hadn't even considered that.

She was right. What if Kabuto reanimated Itachi? What if we had to fight him? Who could defeat somebody like him?

More importantly, who wanted to defeat someone like him? We needed him on our side. We needed –

'Kira?' Tsunade was calling me. 'Kira, are you there?'

'Sorry,' I said. 'I... Thank you for reminding me of that possibility. If Itachi does make an appearance, which I hope he won't, Sasuke is still our best bet. If he's backed up by other shinobi, that's probably even better.'

'I suppose,' said Tsunade, sounding a little doubtful. I wasn't completely confident in what I was saying, either, but it was all I could muster up.
