Raindrops pour quickly above my head for the last 30 minutes and it still wouldn't stop. I ran as fast as I can, finding a shade, tree or any kind of shelter to stay until the storm stops.

Move faster Monica. It's late now. You're gonna get in trouble for this! You'll regret this night.

A few minutes of bolting through the slippery streets, I finally found my way home. I saw the sign right above my head. It made me felt relieved, for now. I dashed across the pavement and knocked at the door onced I reached it. The door slowly opened.

No one was there.

I shook my head. I stepped inside and searched for anyone home. No sign of a single living thing except for my cat, Mittens. I patted her furry and tiny head and said "Well, it's just you and me Mittens.". She just kept her eyes shut and purred. I sighed and noticed that I was soaking wet and I didn't even tried to change my clothes. "Oh my--dang I'm so stupid!" I said, touching my forehead. I rushed through the stairs and got new clothes. I dressed up quickly and looked at the clock. "It's...1 in the morning!?" I was shocked because tomorrow--I mean today's Monday. I have to go school, or maybe I'm forgetting something. I quickly scanned the room for my school calendar. There's only one place I can find lost items--under my bed. So, I crouched down and almost stuck my face on the floor. At last, I found it. I flipped through all the pages and pointed at October.

Thanksgiving Break--no school for a week. Classes resume on Monday.

"Yes!" I exclaimed. I jumped to bed and snuggled. "Good night, Monica." I thought, wishing that someone would say that to me, other than my parents. For 20 minutes, I was thinking about...what awaits me in the future. I grinned, unknowingly. I sighed and hesitated to everything I was thinking. I closed my eyes and dared not to open them, even just a tiny peek. I slowly felt weary and fell into a deep and sound sleep.
