Mat and I walked out of the forest, intertwining our fingers. Believe me, I tried my best not to move stiffly. One question began to bug me as we strolled out: Does this mean that him and I are dating? My mind desperately searched for an answer. Mat stopped. I automatically turned to face him, sending him a questioned face. "Here we are." he said. I looked to the side. Gosh golly, I guess I was a little too occupied that I didn't notice that we were here.
"Monica?" I raised an eyebrow. "I suppose I should stay with you for a little while."
"Why should you?"
"Well, after that Avan incident, you're probably alone now. I thought that it would be nice to give you some company, if that's ok with you." That made me blush fifty shades of red. I nodded stiffly, rubbing my arm.
You know, with Mat's kind offer of staying with me, I've gotten used to him by my side. I walked my way to the back porch to take a break from all my work.
Just then, a voice interrupted my cooling time. "Um, Monica? You okay there?" I already know it was Mat. I refused to answer; I won't allow anyone to interrupt. He let out a deep sigh. "About last night, well, if you want... we can pretend it never happened."
My heart skipped a beat. I frantically stood up. "No! No!" I exclaimed. "Er, I mean, no. It's fine. You don't have to worry about...that."
"So...does that mean that-" I cut him off with a peck on the lips. "Will that answer your question?" He just stood there like a statue. I've gotten over that question already. Time to face reality and make a choice, and this was my choice.
Breaking the moment, I heard a knock on the door. We don't usually receive knocks at this time. I darted my way to the entrance. I opened the door and was shocked to see who they were.
"M-mom? Dad?" Tears started to run down my cheeks. The two adults nodded and embraced me. "Why'd you came back late...?" I asked as I sobbed. "It was a long story, Monica, quite a long story." I couldn't hold back my emotions any longer. I desperately hugged back tightly.
"Monica? Who was it?" Mat said, walking towards us. My mom stopped and stared at him. "Monica? Is this your boyfriend?" my dad asked, dying for an answer. "Yes, he is." I caught Mat blushing once again. "This is Mat. Mat, these are my parents." He raised an eyebrow. "Uh, nice to meet you then."
"We got more to learn from you, Mat. Oh, and you too, Monica." my parents said in unison. We all bursted out laughing.
