Introduction-
Fallen is easily Evanescence's best album, released in 2003. It's a combination of roaring vocals from Amy Lee, deep piano, rough guitar and gothic story-telling. It was an almost instant hit, with it crawling up the charts and smashing its way past pop singers such as Brittany Spears and other singers who ruled the charts with their OTT hits.
It grasped no single genre, drawing from the angst of grunge, beauty of classical piano, and most importantly the rock which they had grown up listening to their whole lives. Evanescence still stands to be one of the biggest bands around, and easily the best American-Goth-Rock band.
The other day, when I was asked to explain what Evanescence's music was about I answer with this:
"It's never really about 1 thing. It can be about heart-break, a gothic fairy tale, missing pieces... The only thing for certain when listening to their music is that each piece is like a completely different story in itself."
That was when an idea struck me. If every song was like a story; why not write a story for each song? It would be short of course; incorporating lyrics and the theme of the song. I would write each story in order of the album.
The List:
1. Going Under
2. Bring me to Life
3. Everybody's Fool
4. My Immortal
5. Haunted
6. Tourniquet
7. Imaginary
8. Taking Over Me
9. Hello
10. My Last Breath
11. Whisper
If I feel like it, I may also add the songs:
12. Missing
13. Thoughtless (cover)
14. Farther Away (cover?)
15. Breathe No More
Basically, I write a short piece inspired by the song. The song will be on the side, with a picture of Evanescence which may, or may not correspond with the story and song. So, I will bid you farewell, with this message:
I am just an overly obsessed, almost 14 year old. Please do not expect too much from me.
